GOLDEN STREAKS CAST ACROSS THE FLOOR AS ADRIANA STOOD IN FRONT OF HER MIRROR, fussing with her hair for the third time. cecelia was sprawled out on her bed, scrolling through her phone, one leg dangling off the side lazily.
"do you think i should bring a sweater?" adriana asked, glancing over her shoulder, her fingers hovering near the lightweight cardigan draped over the back of her chair.
cecelia snorted without looking up. "it's like, eighty degrees out. you'll be fine. plus, you don't want to carry it around all night."
adriana hesitated, her eyes flicking from the sweater to her reflection. there was a part of her that wanted the extra layer, just in case, but cecelia's confidence was enough to make her second-guess herself. she sighed, letting the sweater fall back over the chair, and turned back to the mirror, smoothing down her top.
"you ready yet?" cecelia finally asked, tossing her phone aside and hopping up. "the guys are probably already there."
adriana nodded, though a small knot of anxiety tightened in her stomach. she wasn't sure if it was about seeing chris again or just the awkward tension that still lingered between them. probably both.
