Chapter 8

Episode 4:
Murphy's Law

Nate's POV

"We have to know the truth. That's why we've decided to banish Murphy." Clarke finishes talking. Explaining why they kicked out Murphy. But that wasn't my issue. "Anybody got a problem with that?" Bellamy asks. "I have a question." I say making everyone look at me.

"What is it?" Clarke asks me. "Where is she?" I ask simply and she looks confused. "What?" She asks me. "Where is she? We all know which she I'm talking about." I say as the others start to realize something. Artemis left with them. But she isn't here now. "She stayed with Murphy." Finn says stepping forward.

"Why would she do that?" Octavia asks shocked. "You're brother beat him to hell. All of you fucking hung him. Wether any of you noticed or not? I did. Artemis clearly is in love with Murphy. And that's gotta be one hell of a love to stick by them like that. She asked me to apologize to everyone for leaving." Finn tells us, looking to me.

"Arty's gone?" I hear someone ask shocked. Everyone starts murmuring. "My best friend is gone. Because you didn't stop them. You tried to hang the person she fell in love with. I'm not mad at her for leaving. I'm mad at you for pushing her." I say my gaze locked on Bellamy who was frowning at Finns words.

Normal POV

I sit on the edge of the river with Murphy next to me. "Goddess you should have gone back." He mutters wincing as I dab a cut. "No. You know I wouldn't. You aren't going to be left out here alone to survive. I'm with you every step of the way." I say softly.

I turn his face to the side, cleaning more of his face. "So... is now a good time to bring up what you said? More than once?" He asks and I blush. "Shut up." I mumble with a soft smile. "Goddess, look at me." He says grabbing my hand to stop me. My eyes meet his and he gives me a small smile.

"Did you mean it? Do you love me?" He asks me and I smile now. "I did mean it. Even before they sent us down here. I was falling for you. You're always so different with me." I say and he nods. "Because you're different. You don't see the broken kid. The kid who set a guard's room on fire. The kid who snuck around for food when his mom was too drunk to feed him." He lists off.

"Because that's not you. The real you. That was the you when you thought you had nothing else. But now you have me. You can be yourself Murphy. It's us against the world for now. When Marcus comes down, he'll find us both. And kick everyone's ass who upset me." I grin and he laughs.

"Come on. You're all cleaned up. Let's see if we can find someplace to crash for the night." I tell him and he nods getting up.

Third POV

Around the camp, everything was chaos. No one wanted to truly listen to Clarke or Bellamy. It was their fault Artemis left. Sure, Murphy was a dick to everyone. But when Artemis was there, he was a lot more tolerable. They'd rather deal with Murphy being an asshole than not having Artemis around.

"Why is everyone so... reluctant to work? Don't they want us to make contact?" Raven asks a few people curiously. Monty was one of those people. "The night you came down something happened. This guy Murphy was accused of murder. And everyone voted to 'float him'. They hung him. Luckily, the kid who actually did it confessed and Arty was able to cut him down." Monty starts to explain.

"Murphy was pissed off. If I was in his shoes I would be do. Getting wrongfully hung? So, he wanted the kid to pay for it like he almost did. Him and a couple others went after the kid. Including Arty. Bellamy, Clarke, and Finn were protecting the kid." He says and she nods following along.

"In the end. The kid jumped off a cliff so no one else would suffer for what she did. Bellamy blamed Murphy and apparently beat the shit out of him. He gave the ones who were with Murphy the choice to come back. Or stay out there and die with him." He says and she looks shocked. "Arty left with Murphy. And I can't say I blame her. I can only wish to find that kind of love one day." Monty finishes explaining.

"So everyone here would rather follow her than them?" She confirms and he nods. "Then why is no one trying to find her?" She asks. "Because Bellamy and Clarke banished Murphy. They won't let Murphy come back, so Arty won't come back either. And we all know it. Even if they tried. Which is messed up, since Arty is Bellamy's youngest sister." He states.

"Wait. You're talking about Artemis Blake?" Raven asks shocked. "Yeah. Why?" He asks her. "When everyone started taking off their bracelets. When her tile went dark, Marcus lost his shit. He thinks she's dead." She explains. "Which is why I'm talking to him when we get comms up. Because I know you can do it." Finn says as he joins her side.

"What do you think about Artemis?" She asks him. "I didn't talk to her too much until just before they tried to kill Murphy. She's a cool girl. Bet she'd be good friends with you. Your sarcasm could match." He smirks at me and she smacks him.

They return back to work dealing with the rockets to warn the Ark. Then tomorrow, she'd do everything in her power to get communications up. Marcus Kane needed to know Artemis was alive.
