AURAGON ACADEMY

a prestigious school name, in the history of schools—for humans.

It was normal, predictable; and most of all—safe.

But this year, normal was out the window. This year, Auragon Academy had merged with another well-know school for it's prodigy of students—Diagon Prep—a school that thrived on prosperity; but a school that was anything but normal.

A school for them.

Vampires.

It was the first time in history that humans and vampires would be schooled together, and from the looks of it, neither side was happy about it.

Students stood in uneven clusters, humans huddled close together; whispering amongst themselves. While the vampires lounged near the entrance with an air of casual dominance, as they began arriving in. They were easy to spot—their presence was different.

Too still, too poised, too aware of their surroundings.

Y/N  stood by the gates, gripping on a little too tightly, to the straps of her bag and the handle of her suitcase, as she once again re-entered the school grounds for another year. Banners that flapped around were hung up everywhere—which read

" A NEW ERA OF UNITYWelcome back students of Auragon Academy and Diagon Prep ! "

unity? what a joke

She scoffed to herself and forced her feet to keep moving.

"Y/N!"

She turned just in time to see her best friends since the beginning of their attendance at Auragon—Julia White and Aisha Karim—the two girls hurrying toward her.

Julia looked exasperated, arms crossed over her chest, while Aisha's sharp eyes scanned the courtyard warily. Even without looking, the hostility between the students was tight and almost visible.

"This is insane..!!" Julia muttered the moment she reached Y/N. "Like, actual insanity. Whose bright idea was it to shove us all together in the same school?"

"The headmasters.." Aisha whispered cautiously, still glancing around. "They keep talking about 'unity' and 'opportunity for change' but look around! there's two side—predator and prey."

Y/N hushed Aisha hurriedly but didn't disagree.

The human students kept their distance, whispering anxiously as they threw wary glances toward the vampires. The vampires, on the other hand, seemed amused by it all—watching, studying, like they were waiting for something to happen.
