They all arrived at the raptor research arena.
"The mother hen has finally arrived." Hoskins said as Owen approached him. Owen punched him square in the mouth.
"Get the hell out of here and stay away from my animals!" Owen demanded.
"Hoskins, you wanted this to happen, you son of a bitch!" Claire moved closer to him.
"How many more people have to die before this mission starts to make sense to you?"
"It's not a mission. It's a field test." Barry walked up behind him.
"This is an InGen situation now. Okay, there are gonna be cruise ships that show up here at first light. Everybody's gonna get off this island. You're gonna watch a news story tomorrow about how you all saved lives. No, better yet, how your animals saved lives!"
"They've never been out of containment. It's crazy." Barry said to Owen.
"Let's move out! It's happening with or without you." Owen went with the group of men to make a plan.
-
"Easy, blue. Atta girl." Owen stroked blues nose.
"Owen." Gray called over. "Are they safe?"
"No, they're not."
"What's their names?" Madelyn asked, leaning against the fence.
"Well, you got Charlie. There's echo." Owen pointed at each of the dinosaurs. "Here is delta and this one's called blue. She's the beta."
"Who's the alpha?" Gray asked.
"You're looking at him, kid." Owen smirked. Madelyn died of cringe. Claire led the boys and Madelyn into the back of a van.
"See? Totally safe." She said unconvincingly. "All right, get in. Come on. If you need me I'll be up front. Just open that window. Put your seatbelts on." The trio looked around at the missing seatbelts. "Alright, just hold hands." Claire closed the doors, locking them in. Gray held out his hand for Zach to hold.
"Um... nothings getting in here, right?" Gray asked.
"Hey. Do you remember that ghost at the old house? Remember, the one in the garage?" Gray nodded. "I protected you, right?"
"You made a battle axe out of a ruler and a paper plate."
"Yeah. See, nothing is going to get you while I'm around, okay?"
"But you won't always be around." Gray said sadly.
"Yeah, well. Hey. We're brothers, okay? We'll always be brothers and we'll always come back to one another. No matter what." Zach smiled.
"No matter what?"
"No matter what." The two boys hugged.
"You guys are cute." Madelyn said, startling the boys. "Why do you guys say 'garage' like that?" She judged.
"How do you say it?" Zach asked.
"Garage." Madelyn said in her thick London accent.
"Why do you have an English accent?" Gray asked.
"I was raised by an English nanny. She wouldn't let me speak any other way." Madelyn smiled. "I miss her."
"So, uh. How long have you been in Jurassic world?" Zach asked.
"About a year." Madelyn nodded. "Maybe a year and a half."
"A year!" Gray exclaimed, surprised.
"Yeah."
"Why have you been here a year?"
"My grandfather sent me here as a result of my bad behaviour." Madelyn sniffed.
"Oh."
"It was meant to be a two week holiday or a two week punishment, even. But he's never come to collect me. Claire was meant to get a call or an email when they wanted me home but she's never gotten one."
"Why doesn't he want you back?" Gray asked.
"I'm not sure. His stupid assistant is the reason I'm here. It was his idea."
The boys opened the window and watched Claire's iPad. They watched as Owen rode his motorcycle through the jungle.
"Your boyfriend's a badass." Zach said through the window. The other kids nodded. Claire smiled.
-
"My god." Claire gasped, watching everyone get attacked by raptors - who had turned on them. They were now following the Indominus.
"Is everybody dead?" Gray asked.
"No, no, no. Everybody's fine." Claire turned her iPad over.
"Don't lie to him." Zach told her.
"He's scared! It's okay to lie when people are scared!" Claire yelled.
"I wanna go home." Gray said quietly. Madelyn rubbed his shoulder. She was equally as scared, she just didn't show it on her face. Owen was the only one who saw how truly scared she was - and that was unintentional.
"Sweetheart, you will. Okay? I promise. Tomorrow you will be home, and your mother will never let me see you again." Madelyn felt bad for Claire. She may not know much about them, but she loved her nephews. Never seeing them again would break her heart. Madelyn quite liked the Mitchell boys. Gray was pretty cute - in a little kid way, and Zach was kinda cute too - in a teen crush kinda way.
Suddenly there was a slam against the front window. A man slapped his bloody hand on the glass.
"Get out of here! Go! They're coming!" He yelled. Claire screamed at the sight of the man. She turned the van on and sped off.
"Just hold on back there!" Claire heard a crash. It was Madelyn getting thrown against the wall.
"Ow!" She yelped. Her head slammed against the back wall.
"Maddie! You okay?" Zach yelled, helping her up.
I'm fine." Her blonde hair was dyed red.
"Your heads bleeding!" Gray called out.
"I'm fine!" Madelyn snapped, holding back tears. She was incredibly frightened and angry. She was angry at the Indominus, she was mad at her grandfather, she was mad at the world.
The man ran after the van, opening the doors. A raptor snatched him away.
"AHH!" The kids yelled in unison. Two raptors followed after the van. The boys struggled with a taser.
"Turn it on!" Zach yelled.
"I don't know how!"
"Give it here!" Madelyn demanded. She quickly turned it on and threw it back to Gray.
"Now!" Zach told his brother. Gray lunged the taser forward, hitting echo in the chest.
"Did you see that?" He asked Claire. "I can't wait to tell mom!"
"No, please. Do not tell your mother about that, ever." Claire sped on. The raptors ran off into the jungle. Owen appeared behind the van, on his motorbike.
"Owen!" Madelyn yelled out.
"You guys okay?" He asked. The three kids nodded. Owen sped up so he was next to Claire.
"We gotta get indoors." He told her. Follow me." He sped ahead. Claire followed close behind.
"Lowery, we're headed your way. Call for a chopper." Claire said, picking up the phone.
