NEW YORK
The ruined skyline of the city stretched endlessly before him, veiled in smoke and ash. Peter stood calmly, the air heavy with the weight of his sins. His mask was gone, revealing the tired, broken man beneath. Blood and dirt streaked his face, but his eyes held the deepest scars...memories of what he had done, what he had become.
Behind him, Carol knelt in the dirt, her once-pristine uniform tattered and stained. Her golden hair hung in disarray, and her eyes, wild and unhinged, followed Peter's every move like a fervent disciple watching her god.
"You don't have to do this," she whispered, her voice trembling. "The world needs us. You need me."
Peter turned to her, his expression unreadable. Slowly, he walked to her and knelt down, taking her face gently in his hands. She leaned into his touch, her lips curling into a faint, hopeful smile.
"They needed me once," he said softly, his voice raw. "And I failed them. All of them."
"No," Carol insisted, her voice rising with desperation. She grasped his wrists as if afraid he would vanish. "You saved them! You saved this world! You're the only one who could have!"
Peter's eyes filled with tears as he shook his head. "No, Carol. I didn't save anything. I destroyed it. And I let you lead me down this path because I was too broken to see the truth." His voice cracked. "I thought I was honoring them...MJ, our child...but all I did was betray their memory. They would've never wanted this. Never."
Carol's expression crumbled, her wild confidence shattering into a fragile, childlike vulnerability. "I did it for you," she pleaded. "Everything...for you. You're all I ever wanted, Peter. All I ever needed. You're still mine. We can still fix this!"
Peter pulled her into a tight embrace, cradling her as she sobbed against his chest. "I know, Carol," he murmured, his voice tender despite the storm raging inside him. "I know you thought this was love. But love doesn't destroy. It doesn't twist and break everything it touches."
She clung to him, her fingers digging into his back. "Don't leave me," she begged, her voice small and broken. "Please. Don't leave me alone."
Peter pressed his forehead against hers, his tears mingling with hers. "I won't leave you," he promised. "Not this time. We've done enough. It's time to stop."

SUPREME COURT
WASHINGTON DC
The courtroom was silent, save for the faint shuffle of papers and the occasional cough from the gallery. The once-mighty Peter Parker stood in chains, his wrists bound by heavy handcuffs that gleamed under the harsh fluorescent lights. Beside him, Carol Danvers sat restrained in a straightjacket, her eyes darting around the room with a mixture of defiance and madness. Her once-proud posture was gone, replaced by a jittery, unhinged energy.
