Madelyn Lockwood was peacefully sleeping, when her door crashed open. Claire Dearing strutted inside.
"Wake up." She said from the end of Madelyn's bed.
"No." Madelyn grumbled.
"Madelyn, come on. I don't have time for this." Claire sighed.
"I don't care. It's too early." Madelyn pulled the blanket up to her chin.
"I'll show you the new dinosaur." Claire bribed. Madelyn's head immediately shot up. "I know you've been begging to see it for a while and I just thought, oh..." Claire watched in surprise as Madelyn jumped out of bed and rushed into her bathroom. "I'll be outside." Claire smiled, she left the hotel room.
Fifteen minutes later, Claire was getting impatient.
"Maddie, come on!" She knocked on the door. Madelyn opened it immediately.
"I'm ready." She smiled. She grabbed her sunglasses, bag and room keys. "Let's go." She skipped away happily. Claire smiled.
-
Madelyn was forced to sit through an incredibly boring meeting with investors and a quick check in with Claire's nephews. She didn't pay attention to either of these events. She skipped through the lab building.
"Maddie, slow down." Claire jogged behind her.
"Or you could hurry up." She stopped at the exit.
"You're never this excited to come to work with me." Claire finally caught up. The two continued walking, side by side.
"You said I could come see the dinosaur." Madelyn smiled, her English accent laying heavy.
"Yes. That's where we're headed now." Claire opened the door to the helipad. Madelyn jumped up and down in excitement. The two climbed into the helicopter.
"Claire." Masrani nodded.
"Mr masrani!" Claire said in surprise. "You're... flying!" She exclaimed. Masrani shrugged.
"I got my license."
"Two more." His instructor told him.
"Well, two more days." He turned to look at Claire. "So, how's my park doing?"
"Great." Claire fiddled with some paper work. "We're up two and a half percent over last year, a little lower than our original projections..."
"No, no, no, no, how's it doing? Are the guests having fun? Are the animals enjoying life?" He asked.
"Uh well, guest satisfaction is steady, in the low nineties. We don't have a way to measure the animals' emotional experience." Claire replied.
"Sure you do. You can see it in their eyes."
"Told you." Madelyn raised her eyebrows. Claire rolled her eyes.
"Of course." Claire sighed. Masrani turned back around.
"Okay, now show me my new dinosaur..." He went back to the controls. Everyone braced. Claire gasped as the helicopter lifted up awkwardly into the air. It zoomed off above the park, wobbling as it went.
