The Lion Guard gathered together at dusk. Tonight was the first night patrol the guard was doing.
"Mufasa, I'm not sure about Jabari and the others being out at night." Sarabi said. "The night can be dangerous and they're still cubs."
"They'll be alright." Mufasa assured her. "But, if it will make feel better, I'll stay out here and keep an eye on them."
"Thank you." Sarabi said. "Good night." She nuzzled him.
"Good night, my love." Mufasa said.
"Remind me again why we have to do this again?" Kijani asked the other guard members.
"It's our duty as the Lion Guard to protect the Pride Lands day and night." Jabari answered.
Kijani sighed.
"Jabari." Mufasa approached them. "Make sure you're all careful. The night is much different from the day."
"We will, Dad." Jabari said. He and the guard took off. They stayed on alert.
About an hour into their patrol, they heard something.
"Binti?" Jabari questioned.
"I think it's hyenas, sneaking up on some sleeping zebras." Binti answered.
"Probably looking for food." Kijani added.
"Not on our watch." Penda said.
"Let's go!" Dalilah said.
"Let's try to be as quiet as we can be without waking up neighboring herds." Jabari said as they headed towards the zebra herd.
As they got closer, they realized it was Shenzi, Bonzai, and Ed.
"Leave them alone, hyenas!" Jabari ordered.
The zebras panicked and ran off.
"Kijani, go calm the herd down." Jabari instructed. "We'll handle these three."
Kijani nodded and went after the zebra heard.
Jabari turned his attention back on the hyenas.
"Penda, you take Bonzai." He said. "We'll handle the other two."
Penda nodded. "The four guard members fought against the three hyenas and chased towards the Outlands. Jabari didn't want to use the Roar and wake everyone in the Pride Lands up. The guard members headed in the direction of where the zebra herd ran off too and met up with Kijani.
"Are the zebras alright and back to their area?" Binti asked.
"Yep." Kijani replied.
"Good work, everyone." Jabari praised. "Let's keep patrolling."
The rest of the night was quiet.
By sunrise, the Guard, aside from Kijani, who stayed at the Tree of Life, headed back to Pride Rock. Mufasa and Sarabi were up.
"Everything go alright?" Mufasa asked.
"Some of the hyenas tried catching some zebras while they were sleeping, but we took care of them." Dalilah answered.
"I'm glad." Mufasa. "You all should get some rest. I'll do the patrol this morning."
"Thank you, your Majesty." Penda said.
"Night Dad." Jabari said. He nuzzled mother before he and his friends headed into the Lion Guard den to get some sleep.
