Over the course of a month, Charlie seemed to be doing great he hasn't been allowed to be alone with Freya yet, so either Jasper or one of her parents will be with him sometimes it's all of them, but it didn't bother him as he got to spend time with his daughter.
Today, however, was the day he got put to the test. He was called to the throne room by all three kings.
When he entered, he was greeted with all three kings as well as the elite guard. He bowed his head to the kings, waiting for what they were to say.
"A little time ago, I told you Isabella was here, and she still is." Aro began. "You have been doing well with Freya, but you have one test left." Charlie was confused as to what he was saying until a smell hit his nose. The smell made him want to throw up. "Yes, that smell is coming from Isabella, who has been here for 10 years serving her punishment."
After the words were spoken, the doors opened, revealing a skeleton looking Isabella covered in dirt and blood, and who knows what else. She looked into nothing, and Charlie felt his heart sting at the sight. She may not be his daughter, but he raised her as his. He had to look away as venom formed in his eyes.
"Why is she not clean? We sent for a bath for her." Caius snapped at the two guards, excorting the shell of a person.
"She refused." Felix said, trying hard not to smell the air.
"So she isn't in a catatonic state then." Marcus spoke up.
"No master she was kicking and screaming until we left dungeons." Demetri said.
Aro seeing Charlie's reaction stood from his chair.
"So Charlie, what do you think?" Aro asked, walking down the stairs.
"I'm sure she has learnt her mistakes." He said as his voice broke.
"She has not. This is an act she does from time to time." Aro said as Caiuse growled and Marcus glared. "She still wishes harm on Freya. I've seen it."
"Ten years locked away is a long time. I'm sure she will not make the same mistakes." Charlie said, looking to Aro.
"So, you wish for her to be releast?" Marcus asked, feeling his anger grow.
"She has served her time, let her live out the rest of her life far away from here, away from Freya." He began to beg.
"She tried to murder MY DAUGHTER, YOUR BLOOD DAUGHTER." Marcus began to raise his voice as he stood like a preditor ready to tare apart any threat. "SHE STILL PLANS TO KILL HER AND RIGHT NOW SHE IS PLAYING YOU BY ACTING LIKE THE VICTOM. HE ACTS ALONE ARE PUNISHABLE BY DEATH AND YOU WANT US TO SEND HER AWAY SO SHE CAN POSSIBLY CAUSE FREYA MORE HARM."
"You raised Freya, and I raised Bella." Charlie tried to reason. "If the roles were revered, what would you do?"
"For starters, I would find out the truth which has been given to you on a golden plater. And if she was guilty, she would suffer the consequences of her actions. And I would protect my blood no matter what." Marcus growled. "You have a choice." He walked down the steps and stood in front of Charlie. "Isabella or Freya?"
Charlie took a moment to think, making the others growl.
"If I chose Bella. What would happen?" He asked, earning glares and a single smirk.
"Is she your final choice?" Aro asked as he felt his eyes turn red.
"No, I will choose Freya. I just wanted to know what would happen." He replied, but not everyone trusted what he said.
"You wouldn't like it." Aro said, walking up the steps. "That's for sure." As he sat down in his throne, he looked to the guard who was with a panicking Isabella. "Take her away." As the words left his mouth, Isabella began to scream.
"Please, no, please, please, I don't want to go back, please. I'll do anything, please." She screams, trying to get out of Felix and Demetri's grip but failing miserably.
Once she was gone, Marcus turned to Charlie before he left to see his daughter, who was with his wife and Jasper.
"You are excused, Charlie." Aro said, and with that, Charlie left.
"I don't trust him. How does it take so long to choose Freya over someone who only cares about themselves." Caius snapped out.
"I don't know, brother, but we will keep a close eye on him." Aro replied as the room filled with people.
