This is the foundation for a fic!!! I have not actually written it yet bc idk if anyone would want it, so please let me know if you'd be interested. It's an idea that I had and I would definitely be down to expand on it and write some scenes from it.
Everything goes normal with everybody in high school until Jia or whatever her name is, breaks up with North. Johan still gives him the duck from secret, North still gets told to smile, but he has a harder time just moving on right away than he did in the show. In the show all the feelings seemed to get delayed, but here he feels them instantly and kinda throws himself into his video games. His friends come over to cheer him up, and one of them is like, "Dude, if you're going to spend all of your time on your computer gaming, you might as well make some money off of it."
North thinks about this, but doesn't take it seriously until the next day or so when his friends have been doing work beside him while he games, and he looks over to see that they've both fallen asleep. They wake up and are like, dude, your calm-ass voice playing violent-ass games is weirdly relaxing. Like, serious ASMR. North considers this, plus his friends telling him to start streaming, and his having trouble sleeping, and he goes, 'fuck it. If I can do what I love, while making money, AND helping people feel better, I'm gonna at least try.'
So he starts a Twitch, or something similar, and gets pretty popular, but when the first couple of schools start (imagine his starts later, like how some schools start as early as mid august and others don't begin until late september? Either that or like, people from different countries have found him, whatever) he absolutely BLOWS UP. Like, he is the perfect person to study to, because he's entertaining enough to keep you awake and on task if you need to be, but his voice is super slow and nice to listen too, plus even when he gets pissed, he never really yells or shouts, he just kinda talks more precise and slower, so you don't stress out. His calm keeps others calm, and over the summer between high school and college, he becomes kind of an online icon.
Now, part of the reason for this, is his insanely long streams, like, he'll start one when you're going to bed, and you can wake up the next morning not even halfway through. He knows that he can't keep this up in college, bc sleep schedule, so he basically says, if yall stay chill and acknowledge that I am only a man, I'll start a YouTube at 1 million subscribers. He says this, fully expecting to not have to do this for a while, but it takes less than a damn week to get there. North is now like, fuck, I don't know how to edit videos, which I kinda need for YouTube, I can't just casually stream, I need to actually filter out stuff and make it an okay length. So, he buys time by saying that on YouTube he'll start out with requests, and is asking for those (the majority are for horror games bc everyone knows he's shit with jump scares by now), but puts out an ad of sorts for editors.
He gets some responses, but one that catches his eye is this guy named Typhoon. He's included a link to his insta, and his work looks great. North calls him up and they chat, and overall get along really well, so North asks him to edit twenty minutes of one of his more recent streams. Phoon absolutely aces the assignment, and bam, a new partnership. Now, the YouTube channel is set up, and it's where you want to go if you want to watch more interactively, despite not having a chat, because now that North knows that there's a filter in case he says anything too personal, he lets loose a lot more. Twitch is for more multiple person team games, and YouTube is for more RPG stuff. The interactive horror games, and challenges and stuff that North is more new too, but really enjoys. Typhoon is officially acknowledged all the time now, just by the letter T to keep his identity safe, but he also starts having more fun with this thing.
