"Open it, please." The Everything commands me. I looked up at them in the grey space. Every night now, I meet up with one of them, or both of them here. Without much thought, I outstretched my right hand, thinking of the odd power that keeps coming back to me. Edit. I could see the small button less than an inch away from my fingers. They can see it, despite no one else being able to.

"How about today, you do it yourself? See how far you can push the boundaries of this single ability you are born with." I paused. When I sleep, they guide me, curious on how far I can push the limits of what I can do.

"I can try... What should I do?" I ask softly, hesitating with the button in front of me.

"Whatever you wish, I can undo it all, so please. Go ahead." They stand behind me, resting their hands on my shoulders. Pulses of energy rushed in every part of my body. At least where their hands rested. With a slow deep breath I pressed the button, looking at the empty space. As usual, there was nothing for me to edit. Unlike in the waking world where... I could access everything. The Everything takes off one hand from my shoulder and takes my free hand, outstretching it. Slowly, plants sprouted from my hands, growing out onto the grey ground below me, circling around my bare feet, flowers blooming out of vines and grass. Moss trickling near the edges of this vast ecosystem below my feet with each flower that grew, each sprouted leaf. This menu of options expanded.

I looked at all the clumps of moss, seeing what I could do to expand this small yet vast area I stood in, with this grey void feeling less empty. What I should do is more of the question then what can I do. From these nightly visits... I've learned one thing. I can do anything.

I kneel down to the ground picking out a single dandelion growing from the ground. A small white string connected to the flower... for the edit. I go through the motions, letting this flower change into something else entirely. From the flower... now into a crystal, one dark blue in color with hints of black and white... Sodalite I think. I held the small smooth stone in my hand. I glanced over my shoulder to see The Everything still standing behind me. They seemed... not to care about the stone.

I placed it down over some moss, moving through the array of flowers and plants. Picking out another flower using my ability to edit once again. Letting it shift and change into something bigger. As small tree saplings that grew from my hands. I place it down with the other plants around it. With a small push, I forced the tree to grow taller and bigger. Big enough for me to lay my back against the rough bark of the trunk. With another flower in hand... I decided to try something new.

I focused on creating something more alive. A bird. Turning the flower into a red robin. As I accessed my abilities once again I let the flower shift and change, a pull of exhaustion came out of my chest while doing so. AS I did... I saw it. The small robin in my hands. Chirping and alive. It flies up into the tree. Not wanting it to be alone. I did the same thing picking up another flower and gave the small bird a matching friend. They fly around the tree together, forgetting that before this they were nothing more than flowers. I looked around at what I created. The large tree and birds.

I could create life with life? Is this... really a power I should have under my fingertips? underneath my skin... the soul that makes me who I am?

"Very... interesting." I paused and looked behind me, seeing they had closed the cap between us.

"Am I... supposed to be able to do this? This seems like... a lot of power for one person to have." I mumble to them.

"You wouldn't be able to do this if you were not supposed to have these powers." They acknowledge.
