CAIUS'S POV

Habang busy ako sa mga reports at documents sa office, naramdaman ko ang biglaang presensya ni Gideon sa aking paligid. Tumigil ako saglit at tinignan siya nang pumasok at naupo sa harapan ko. I wasn't really expecting her. She's usually too busy with her own dealings, but today, she decided to pay me a visit.

Pumasok siya nang walang sabi-sabi, parang walang pakealam sa nakatambak na papeles sa executive desk ko. Then, she leaned back in the chair and looked at me, as if waiting for something.

"Don't you think it's time to visit Athena?" She asked nonchalantly, as if it were the most casual thing in the world.

Her words hit me like a brick wall, and for a brief moment, I felt a sharp pain in my chest. Athena. Athena... Ang pangalan niya na parang isang paboritong alaala na pilit kong iniiwasan.

I quickly masked my emotions, not letting any weakness show. I took a deep breath and looked him dead in the eye. "I don't have time for that right now," I said calmly, trying to mask the anger and frustration building up inside me.

But deep inside, my mind was racing. Athena's accident… the reason she's in a coma. The reason I couldn't stop blaming myself. If I didn't push her away that day, maybe none of this would have happened. Maybe she'd be here, talking to me, instead of lying unconscious in a hospital room.

I clenched my fists under the executive desk, fighting the urge to let it all out, to shout and cry, but I couldn't. Not with Gideon sitting there, calmly observing me. She knew, of course, how much Athena meant to me, even though I refused to admit it to anyone.

"She's still waiting for you, you know," she added, her voice soft, almost mocking. "Does she deserve to be forgotten by the woman who... could've done something?"

I felt a pang of guilt twist inside me. Gideon, with her usual sharp observations, could read me too well. But I refused to let her see the cracks in my armor. Instead, I just nodded.

"I'm dealing with something more important right now," I replied, trying to remain detached.

But the truth was, it hurt. Athena hurt. And I hated myself for not being able to fix things, for not being able to go back and make it right.

Gideon let out a soft chuckle, but her expression was unreadable. "You can't just hide from it forever, Caius. Sooner or later, you'll have to face it." She stood up, ready to leave. "Just don't be like Mikhael. Don't wait until it's too late."

And with that, she left me alone in my office, the weight of her words lingering in the air. Her visit was a reminder of the past I could never escape, of the mistakes I could never fix.

I ran a hand through my hair, closing my eyes briefly. How did everything get so complicated?

As soon as the door closed behind Gideon, a sense of urgency washed over me. The familiar weight in my chest came crashing down, and I couldn't just sit here any longer. I couldn't ignore it anymore. Athena... I have to see her.

I stood up abruptly, pushing my chair back with a loud scrape that echoed through the otherwise quiet office. My hands moved with a sense of purpose, grabbing my coat from the back of the chair and quickly slipping it on. I didn't even think twice. I didn't have time to dwell on the doubts and the pain that had been haunting me for months. I had to go.
