You'll truly find yourself when you become clean. You'll realize that your worth and identity don't lie in how others see you, what you've achieved, or how productive you are. No, your identity isn't based on whether you smoke marijuana, drink alcohol, or smoke cigarettes.
Your worth was inherent from the moment you were born. It isn't determined by society, social status, achievements, mistakes, or anything external. You are valuable and important just as you are, and you deserve only love and support. There has never been anything wrong with you.
You didn't deserve to hear those words from your parents or endure that behavior. You were born a person worthy of unconditional love and safety. You didn't deserve, and never will deserve, the pain you've experienced.
You are not a problem, a mistake, or a failure. What happened to you says more about others—their inability to handle situations and their own emotions—than it ever could about you.
