The flight home was bittersweet, filled with a mix of excitement and dread. What would the future hold for them? Would their relationship survive ? But as the plane touched down, Benji felt a warm hand squeeze his, and he knew that together, they could face anything.

The moment they stepped into Joseph's apartment, the tension was palpable. They hadn't talked much about what had happened in Thailand, but the air was thick with unspoken words. Benji set down his bag and turned to face Joseph, his heart racing.

"So..." Benji began, his voice trailing off.

"Yeah," Joseph said, his eyes never leaving Benji's. "So."

They stood in the living room, surrounded by the comfort of their old lives, the walls seemingly closing in on them as the gravity of their situation settled like dust in the air. Benji felt the weight of Joseph's gaze, and his heart pounded in his chest.

"So," Benji began again, "what happens now?"

"Now?" Joseph's smile was slow and easy, the kind that made Benji's knees wobble. "Now, I take you on a date."

The words hung between them, a declaration that was both thrilling and terrifying. Benji felt his heart leap into his throat, his eyes widening. "A date?"

"Yeah," Joseph said, his voice a low rumble that sent shivers down Benji's spine. "A proper one, with dinner and everything."

Benji's stomach flipped. He'd never been on a date with Joseph, not like this. Sure, they'd gone out, had dinner, seen movies, but it was always as friends. This was different. This was real.

"Okay," he managed to croak out, his voice sounding strange in his own ears.

The apartment was silent, the only sound the steady tick of the grandfather clock in the corner. Benji felt a warmth spread through him as Joseph stepped closer, his hand reaching up to cup Benji's cheek. "I know it's a lot to take in," he murmured, "but I've felt this way for a long time. And I can't keep pretending it's just friendship anymore."

Benji's heart was racing. He nodded, his voice a mere whisper. "I feel the same."

The apartment felt smaller, more intimate as Joseph's thumb brushed against Benji's cheek. "I know it's crazy," Joseph continued, his eyes searching Benji's, "but I can't ignore it anymore. And if you're willing to try, I'm all in."

Benji's heart was racing. "Me too," he said, his voice barely a murmur.

"Good," Joseph said, his own heart beating a little faster. "Because I've got the perfect date planned."
