"Anybody else starving?" JJ asks as they slowly go through the marsh.

"Me! Me, me." Cora raises her hand.

"We need to grab some sort of breakfast." JJ says.

They find a dock and tie the boat to it.

"We're gonna find some food." Sarah says as she and Kie climb off the boat.

"Who you with, Cora?" Kie asks.

"You two." Cora quickly walks over. JJ grabs onto her left arm and Kie reaches out, holding onto her right hand. They keep their grips tight but gentle as they make sure the girl successfully gets on the dock.

JJ lets go of her while Kie continues to hold her hand as they follow Sarah off.

"You think we can find candy?" Cora asks.

"I don't think we're gonna find candy in the woods, sugar fiend." Kie says.

"Root beer?"

"Nope."

Cora sighs, pouting.

They venture off, soon enough finding a watermelon garden.

"Ugh!" Kie exclaims, holding up a watermelon. "Jackpot!"

Cora and Kie are sitting on a bench while Sarah sits in the grass, her back resting against the bench. They split the watermelon in half and Kie is sharing her half with Cora, knowing Cora wouldn't be able to finish half of a watermelon on her own.

"Mm. Holy shit." Sarah mumbles.

"Okay, so you really got married?" Kie asks.

"It wasn't exactly legal, but..." Sarah trails off, looking up at her. "Yeah."

"You need legal to be married?" Cora asks.

"Mm-hmm." The two teenagers nod.

"Well, to be legally married." Sarah says.

"The law needs too many things." Cora mumbles making Sarah laugh.

"You're around JJ way too much." Kie remarks with a small laugh.

"Well, what do you expect? He's my brother." Cora says, taking another bite of the watermelon.

"Am I crazy, or is there definitely something going on between you and Pope?" Sarah asks Kie.

"Maybe." Kie shrugs.

"That's not a no." Sarah says.

"It's not a no." Kie agrees.

"Girl." Sarah says and Kie giggles.

"Hey, have you guys figured anything out with Rosie? I mean, even just where she is?" Sarah asks.

"Yeah, she, uh... she's at your place, actually." Kie says. "Or, you know, your family home."

"What?" Sarah pales. "Wh-- is she okay?"

"I went and saw her a few days ago. Snuck up to her window. She didn't look hurt, but she didn't look happy or anything. I think she heard people walking or something and she looked terrified." Kie explains. "Her window was locked so I'm sure the door is too."

"Fuck." Sarah whispers. "John B's been so worried about her, obviously. She can't be doing okay if she's locked up with my dad in charge of her. DPS hasn't done anything?"

"No." Kie shakes her head.

"She goes to kook academy." Cora informs. "I saw her in town one day and she was wearing that boring uniform."
