CHAPTER 36: PEACE IN HELL

HAVEN'S POV

A few days ago...

"We're going to St. Regis."

Allessio's voice ripped through the air like a knife. He was seething with rage that anyone could feel it miles away.

He wasn't alone. His men mirrored his anger, but compared to him, theirs are more kind than whatever is running through Allessio's mind right at this moment.

"That renovation company must be punished as well. I want their heads to line up on the dining table—"

"Allessio." I grabbed his hand to stop him from moving, which wasn't easy since he was stronger than me. "Daddy. Listen, please."

He cupped both of my cheeks, and he stared right into my eyes. "I'm going to fix this. He shouldn't have gotten this close in the first place. I'll make everyone involved with him pay."

I shook my head. "I need you to think about this."

"I already did."

"No, you didn't." I wrapped my arms around his waist. I could feel the rigid tension of his body soften a little. Not a lot, but enough. "First, the dining table? Ew. We eat there."

"The basement then," he grumbled.

"No. No heads. If someone betrayed Idalion, then I have no say in that. Just don't put it in my conscience that others will get dragged into this when they are innocent."

"Haven—"

"And Asher... I hate what I found out about him, and I feel disgusted that I even dated him." His face dim more and I hurriedly continued, "But there's more to this, and you know it. He talked about Idalion like he knows something that we don't. It's a waste to just take him so that you could do whatever you want to do with him when you can use him to lead you to the truth."

Allessio's eyes flashed dangerously, but he said nothing. "What if this hurt Idalion? Your people?" I whispered.

He pulled away from me, running his hand through his hair in frustration. "What if this hurts you?!"

"I'm with you, aren't I? And you're Idalion." I step closer to him, and I put a hand on his chest. "If they hurt Idalion, they will hurt me too."

He knows I'm right. His men know that I'm right. I also know that they all hate how right I am. They're all after blood because, as much as Allessio is protective of me, I could see that his men are too.

"You should all listen to the lady."

The room went alert, but the familiar man who walked in casually just raised his hands in mock surrender. He sauntered inside the room, grinning as if he hadn't just entered the lion's den.
