Nam Yeonji was a tragedy--a burnt-out star.
She was a go-getter, the kind of person who knew what she wanted and worked relentlessly to achieve it. If no path existed, she made her own. With a strong sense of self, Yeonji moved through life as if she had already lived 50 others. She was anything and everything all at once. People looked at her with glitter in their eyes; it was impossible not to.
Yeonji was destined to shine brighter than all the stars that coat the night sky. But she would soon learn nobody in this forsaken universe could shine forever. After all, stars fade.
At twenty-three, Yeonji believed she had everything she'd ever wanted. Newly employed at a rising company and married to a man better than she'd dared to dream of. It seemed as if all the cards had fallen into place after many years of hard work and sacrifice. She finally had the life she always wanted and knew she deserved.
But luck, as she'd learn, doesn't last forever.
By twenty-eight, Yeonji realized her glory had come to an end. Divorced. Exhausted. Drowning in bills. Living in a dingy apartment. The days blurred together, and her life began to feel like a cruel joke. She was suffocating under the weight of her own downfall, unable to escape the realization that she was no longer the person she once was.
