"better to admit you walked through the wrong door, than spend your life in the wrong room"

Brooklyn | 6:32pm
Atlanta, GA | June 6th

Monica's laugh bounced through her apartment as we lounged on her oversized couch, all bunched up, bowls of popcorn in hand. She'd just finished painting her nails a deep purple, waving her hands in the air like they were on fire. "Girl, when I tell you I'm gonna spoil this baby, I mean it." She said, grinning ear to ear. "Auntie Monica. Oh my gosh imagine. I'm going all out—clothes, toys, the phones. Just wait."

I rolled my eyes, but her excitement was infectious. "Yeah, well, don't go too crazy. I don't want them thinking their royalty or something." I laugh. "And don't buy my child a phone." I half joke.

"They are royalty. " She said laughing. "And bitch, it's the age of technology, there's no way you're gonna stand on that no electronics shit." She chuckled and lightly nudged my knee.

I wave her off laughing.

"Now whats the deal with y'all now after the kiss." She said shifting in her seat next to me, all eager.

I shake my head. "It's the same." I tell her. "I mean yeah... i may be catching feelings."

"Awww look at you getting all soft."

I gave her a light shove. "Shut up. It's not like that. He cool, you know." I say trying to seem causal and she laughed at me. "Girl, fuck you."

"Girl fuck youuu. And Fuck that mannn." She laughed. I tucked my lips, shaking my head, and grinning.

"Unt untttt." I dragged. "I want to so bad but girl." I said throwing my head back. "I just don't know."

Monica shook her head and smirked. "Whatever, Brook. I'll give it another week."

I laugh and wave her off.

"I wanna meet this nigga, for real."

"Mmcht." I sucked my teeth. "Get back, you do the most, i'm not." I laughed.

"I'm serious!" She nudged me.

"I'm serious!" I exclaimed.

"Ima be chill." She nodded slowly, doing a hand motion. "And you know i gotta approve of em."

I shake my head at her. "Maybe." I shrug. "We'll see." I said and she nodded, grabbing her phone.

The conversation drifted into lighter topics—Monica's job, some ridiculous drama between her coworkers, and a show she'd been bingeing.

We eventually ended up watching said show. Cuddled up on the couch and eating popcorn and cookies.

Don't judge me. I was craving sweet and salty.

Two hours into the show i checked the time and realized i needed to head out.

I stretched and stood, tossing her blanket onto the couch. "Moni." I shook her body, gently. She had dozed off.

"Im finna head out, chy."

"Mmmm." She whined, stretching out. "Okay, honey. Hug?" She stretched her arms out.

I leaned down to hug her, and struggled to stand back up straight. She lightly laughs, helping me.

"Fat ass."

"Not too much." I laughed, gently tapping her butt and grabbing my shoes to put on.

I grabbed my jacket and went out the door, locking it behind me. After arriving at my apartment i tidied up a bit. A few dishes in the sink, fluffing the pillows on the couch, wiping down the counters, watering a few plants. The small tasks helped quiet my mind.
