Vaine Fleur
Tulala ako habang naglalakad sa hallway pagkatapos ng pag-uusap namin ni Tito Theo. Napasandal ako sa pader at napahilamos nalang ng mukha dahil sa mga nalaman.
Flashback
"Ano pong ibig niyong sabihin na ikakasal siya?" kunot ang noo at agad na tanong ko kay Tito Theo nang makapasok kami sa isang office dito sa hospital.
"Vaine, I believe there's something she's been keeping from you. She doesn't want you to know because she's afraid you'll worry or see her as a burden." sambit ni Tito Theo na parang nag-aalangan pa rin sabihin sa akin ang lahat.
"Keeping what, Tito? If there's something going on, kailangan ko pong malaman. Please, just tell me." pakiusap ko naman kay Tito.
Sandali itong natahimik at napapikit bago sumagot.
"W-we're in a terrible situation with our company. One of my main investors is threatening to pull out unless.... unless Yndrah agrees to marry him. On top of that, I'm also in debt to him." buntong hininga na sagot ni Tito.
"Si Cyan po ba?" tanong ko kay Tito na ikinagulat niya.
"H-how did you know?" tanong ni Tito sa akin.
"I saw both of you sa isang restaurant and nabanggit mo din sa akin na siya ang may pinakamalaking share sa kompanya niyo." sagot ko naman.
"Siya po ba?" tanong ko ulit na dahan dahan namang ikinatango ni Tito.
"Yes. Yndrah found out weeks ago. And instead of telling you, she decided to shoulder it all herself. She believes if she keeps you out of it, you won't get dragged down by this mess." sabi naman ni Tito.
Napayukom ako ng kamao nang kumpirmahin ni Tito na si Cyan nga ang tinutukoy niya. Ang dumi talagang maglaro ng lalaking 'yon.
"Why would she keep this from me? Doesn't she know I'd do anything for her? That I'd never let her go through something like this alone?" may hinanakit na tanong ko.
"She's scared, Vaine. Scared of what this might mean for your future together. But I couldn't stand by and watch her sacrifice her happiness or yours without at least telling you the truth. Magalit na sa akin si Yndrah, pero ginagawa ko lang kung ano ang alam kong tama." sambit ni Tito Theo.
"I can't believe she thought I'd just let her handle this on her own. What are we even doing if we can't face things together?" nanghihinang sambit ko.
"That's why I'm telling you this now. She doesn't have a choice, Vaine. She's convinced that this is the only way to protect you and everyone else involved. I don't want her to go through with it alone. Naghahanap na ako ng paraan para matapos na lahat ng ito." sabi naman ni Tito.
"She does have a choice, Tito. And I'll make sure she sees that. I don't care what it takes. I'll find a way to help. This isn't just her problem, and it's not just yours. It's ours." determinado naman na sabi ko.
"Thank you, Vaine. Thank you so much." seryosong sabi ni Tito saka ako tinapik sa balikat.
"Tito, may I ask a favor? Please don't tell Yna that I already know about this. I'd appreciate it if you kept this between us for now." pakiusap ko kay Tito.
"If that's what you want, then you have my word. I won't say a thing to Yna." tumatangong sabi ni Tito na ipinagpasalamat ko naman.
