This ask is from FresaStar190 on AO3!: To macaque: how would you react or feel if the heavens broke there promise to Wukong about getting rid of the circlet to finished of the journey to the west and they are keeping Wukong in a leash to prevent him from causing chaos? Be in rage, upset, or madder then ever before in your life?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Macaque returned to their hut after a 15-minute nap to make dinner for both of them.
After eating, they took a shower together, watched a movie for an hour, then went to bed, having completely forgotten about the pizza box sitting on their coffee table.
By the time both simians woke the next morning and exited their room, they found cardboard pieces all over the living room and a couple of the baby monkeys laying in food comas on the ridiculously comfortable couch.
Wukong gaped at the mess and tried to figure out how the baby monkeys got into the house. I mean, sure, he sometimes leaves a window open for them along with Macaque, but Wukong KNOWS they had closed all the windows yesterday before bed due to a cold breeze.
Macaque, on the other hand, could care less about how the baby monkeys got into the house when all the windows are closed. No, he cares more about the fucking mess!
Something probably not many know about the black-furred monkey demon is that Macaque can't STAND when his living space is messy.
He only had to drill that into Wukong's head TWICE before he learned to clean up after himself around the house. The only place Macaque doesn't care that's messy is the treasure room.
Wukong, who saw Macaque's eye start to twitch, quickly got behind him and started massaging his moonlight's shoulders while humming a small calming tune to help relax Macaque.
At first, Macaque tensed at the sudden touch near his neck, but as the massage went on, he slowly started to relax and lean back against his mate's chest with a sigh of relaxation.
Looks like the baby monkeys will go without punishment for their mess until another day... or at least for a couple more hours.
As the massage continued, the floating screen materialised before the two monkeys.
Wukong, being the one who had his eyes open, saw it first and gave Macaque's shoulders a squeeze, signalling the dark-furred monkey to open his eyes.
Amber eyes opened to see the screen before them, and still relaxed from the massage, read over the question lazily.
Only for him to tense and snarl, his previous relaxation thrown right out the window.
Wukong wasted no time in restarting the massage, and his humming turned into a soft, quiet singing so soft that if he wasn't right behind Macaque, it wouldn't be heard.
Wukong: ~🎶You are my moonlight🎶~
~🎶My only moonlight🎶~
~🎶You make me happy🎶~
~🎶When skies are gray🎶~
~🎶You'll never know, dear🎶~
~🎶How much I love you🎶~
~🎶Please don't take my moonlight away🎶~
The black-furred simian closed his eyes and took a deep breath, relaxing as he listened to the golden-furred simian softly and quietly sing an altered form of "You Are My Sunshine" as he slowly calmed himself in preparation to answer the question.
Wukong: ~🎶The other night, dear🎶~
~🎶As I lay sleeping🎶~
~🎶I dreamed I held you, in my arms🎶~
~🎶When I awoke, dear🎶~
~🎶I was mistaken🎶~
~🎶So I hung my head and I cried🎶~
Slowly, Macaque opened his amber eyes and reread the question again, this time calmer than before, his ear twitching as he continued to listen to Wukong softly and quietly sing behind him as the golden monkey continued to massage his shoulders gently.
Wukong: ~🎶You are my moonlight🎶~
~🎶My only moonlight🎶~
~🎶You make me happy🎶~
~🎶When skies are gray🎶~
~🎶You'll never know, dear🎶~
~🎶How much I love you🎶~
~🎶Please don't take my moonlight away🎶~
Macaque finished rereading the question at the same time Wukong finished the small song.
Leaning his back more against his mate's chest, Macaque took one more relaxing breath before finally answering the question.
Macaque: If Heaven had gone back on their word, I wouldn't have been able to do anything at first since I was killed on Wukong's Journey to the West.
Macaque could feel Wukong tense slightly against his back.
There was a reason Wukong had come up with the altered version of "You Are My Sunshine", and it wasn't a happy moment. In fact, he had come up with it as he cradled Macaque's dead body in his arms all those centuries ago when he had accidentally killed him.
Because despite having been together for literal years before the incident, Wukong hadn't actually really voiced just how much he loved Macaque, and by the time he did, Macaque was already gone and one with the Diyu.
Anyway, Macaque wrapped his tail around Wukong's and gave it a comforting squeeze, which his mate returned before continuing where he left off.
Macaque: But if I heard about Heaven going back on their word to remove the circlet from Wukong's head after being revived by LBD, then I would've momentarily put the betrayal I felt towards Wukong after being revived in the depth of my mind and instead go and cause my own havoc in Heaven until they'd go and make good on their word.
Immediately after the words let his mouth the massage stopped and Macaque yelped a little in surprise when Wukong instead wrapped his arms around the black simian from behind and buried his face in Macaque's shoulder.
Macaque tilted his head to lean on the golden one on his shoulder.
Macaque: You okay, Peaches?
He felt Wukong nod against his shoulder before a soft whisper reached his sensitive ears.
Wukong: Thank you.
Macaque didn't need to ask what he meant by thank you because he already knew.
Wukong was thanking him for what he would have done if that scenario had actually happened.
Macaque smiled softly and rubbed his head against Wukong's as he softly whispered back.
Macaque: You're welcome.
