My life before was just like my name, Haven. Everything was peaceful, everything went my way, and I had everything that I needed. If I wanted something, I'd have it in a snap. I didn't need to move, make an effort, or work for it. I just needed my d...

CHAPTER 31: MY TOES, MY KNEES
I promised myself that I'm going to stay calm and not get angry. But as time went on, it felt like I was losing to the temptation of tying Allessio and Fierro together and throwing them in the ocean.
I woke up this morning being subjected to a flurry of activities. I've been buffed and polished from head to toe in an excruciating number of hours. When I was shining almost as brightly as the stars above the sky, I was put into a champagne-colored long gown that made me feel an intense combination of nervousness and anticipation because a part of me thought for a moment that this is for an insane shotgun wedding.
A part of me, whether I admit it or not, felt disappointed when the situation wasn't what I expected it to be. Instead of a wedding, a birthday party greeted me when Allessio picked me up and took me to the back of the house. An early birthday party according to him.
What is more surprising is that there were way more people than when Fierro had his birthday party here. People that I'm meetinh for the first time, and yet the way they approach me, one would think that I have known them for ages.
"Oddio, è un figo!"
I almost drop the bruschetta I'm holding at the abrupt exclamation of the woman sitting next to me. If I'm right, her name is Cristina.
With the number of people Allessio introduced to me, I doubt I'll remember all of them. He introduced me to different families and their daughters who are apparently within my age group. Which is seventeen to twenty.
"Sorry," she said to me in English. "He's just so hot!"
I followed her gaze, and my eyebrow arched when I saw that it was Adriano they were looking at. When the guy seemed to feel our gaze, his attention shifted to us, and he waved.
Cristina let out a shriek, and she wasn't alone because the other four women with us—Julia, Bianca, Victoria, and Emilia—also did the same.
I'm going to kill those two for leaving me here! I don't know why I'm still surprised because the women have been giggling and squealing every time a member of Idalion passes by us. I think it was one of the reasons why Lorenzo is guarding me from a safe distance. The women with me have been eyeing him for a while now like hungry hyenas.
I can't say that this is the first time I've been around people like them. I was one of them before. I've been one of those young women who's all about boys, makeup, and shopping.
These women are young and so am I. But my circumstances changed, and theirs didn't. They are privileged to be a little more self-absorbed for now. Life, however, has the habit of forcing someone to wake up, just like what happened to me. My perspective changed a lot because what I've been through that one single year made me drastically open my eyes.
