It took a long time for the war between humans and vampires to end. My grandmother used to tell me stories about the world 500 years ago, back when vampires ruled over humans. She said humans were nothing more than slaves. We had no rights, no freedom—not even the ability to speak unless spoken to. Humans were treated as food, slaves, toys, and even pets.

"They were so cruel," a classmate once muttered, echoing what I had always thought.

Our history teacher, Mr. Perez, continued the lesson. "Vampires showed no mercy. They killed humans whenever they pleased, beat them senseless, and drained their blood as though we were nothing but their property. It was terrifying to live during that time—there were so many vicious vampires."

He paused for a moment before adding, "Back then, auctions were common. Virginal humans were sold to wealthy vampires, who did whatever they wanted with them. Humans were also sold as pets in shops, as if we were animals. Some humans tried to rise up against their oppressors, but it was hopeless. Vampires were stronger and faster than us. Every rebellion ended in failure."

Then, almost out of nowhere, Mr. Perez said something that caught everyone's attention. "And then, one day, a treaty was formed—a surprising agreement between humans and vampires."

"A treaty?" I asked, unable to contain my curiosity. "How did that even happen?"

Mr. Perez looked at me with a slight smile, as if to say, That's the question we're about to answer.
