Ethan Stiles
I open my eyes under a cozy comforter, the warm sunlight spreading throughout the room helping the room temperature to be warm. However, that is not the only reason why I am so warmed up right now.
I look at the person sleeping beside me, his face being so relaxed. Every muscle on his face is at peace and the hair that fall on his forehead make him look extremely breathtaking.
He holds me close to him, every inch of my body pressed against him as his arm wraps around my stomach. My head rests on his other arm, his hand falling in my hair.
The wall of the pillows that once existed between us was no longer between us.
"It's no use." Ares muttered as he threw the pillows on the couch last night.
I wanted to tell him that they were never useful. I always woke up in his arms, surrounded by his warmth, hearing his heart beat at a stable pace but I would never tell him that. I can't. I'm still scared.
I have no clue what has changed Ares' mind and I'm not sure why he has changed his mind. I want to be happy but I'm confused, paranoid. I want to believe that this change is for good but I can't. A fear of this being a beautiful dream before a nightmare tugging my heart every minute.
I'm scared that I will open my eyes and wake up from this dream. This, kind and gentle Ares will no longer be there. I'm scared to see an infuriated man in front of me who will be angry at me for being his mate.
However, I deserve to enjoy these tiny moments of happiness. Even if they are a dream. They are beautiful and I want to cherish them.
My eyes dance over his face, admiring every little detail of his ethereal beauty.
Heat starts to make its way to my face when the memories from yesterday start to run through my head.
The moment we entered the house, Max and Adrien stood by the table, their eyes fixed on us. Ares stood a step ahead of me while I stood closer to the door with my cheeks burning, heat radiating from my body. My body was on fire.
Every word Ares said to me, every single movement of his mouth against mine playing like a broken tape in my head and sending tingles to my stomach.
"What took you so long? We thought something happened to you guys. Do you have any idea-" Max grumbles, complaining as he shares his disappointment and frustration but his words are soon cut off when Adrien shoves his elbows in Max's chest, stopping him from speaking.
Max groans in pain before frowning and looking at Adrien who widens his eyes for mere seconds before he looks back at us.
Blood rushes to my cheeks when I realize what is going on.
I am covered in Ares' pheromones, even I can smell the strong scent of pinewood and cinnamon all over me.
I look down before looking at the table that is filled with food to avoid the stares I am receiving and clear my throat.
Max widen his eyes before a smirk curls up on his lips. "I guess you guys went to after practice?" He narrows his eyes and I want to smack his head so badly. Can I just run to my room without having this awkward conversation?
"For a walk." Ares mumbles before turning his head slightly to look at me. "We got lost in the nature, right Ethan?" I notice the corner of his lips tugged upwards and think if he's teasing me. The very moment Ares' voice falls on my ears, I feel my heart exploding. The simple thing awakening many emotions within me.
"Uh, Yeah." I manage to utter before clearing my throat and stepping towards the table.
"Gosh I'm so hungry and the food looks delicious." I quickly mumble as I pull my chair before taking a seat. Max and Adrien throw a look at each other with smiles on their faces before taking their seats while Ares stands there, staring at me with his golden eyes.
