"Pregnant?" Brooklyn whispered to herself again, for the sixth time now while looking down at the test.

She couldn't believe it.

"Fucking pregnant?" She could feel the tears well up in her eyes. It burned like hell. She shook her head with the realization hitting her.

She was actually pregnant.

Worry and fear took over her. The last thing she needed right now was to be pregnant. I mean how?

The tears fought the battle and won as they streamed down her red cheeks. Brooklyn just stared at the test in complete disbelief.

She went 25 years without making this mistake. And she gets knocked up by someone she fucked once? She hasn't seen him since, nor did they exchange numbers.

Brooklyn isn't even sure if he knows her name.

Did i even tell him that night? She thought.

She shook her head as more tears began to form. She felt disgusted with herself. How did she let this happen.

"What the fuck.." She sniffed pulling up her panties and flushing the toilet. She practically threw the test into the sink while grabbing the second unopened box. It was a different brand, she decided to take it as well.

Maybe it was a false positive. Brooklyn thought, nearly begged.

After taking the test she leaned against the bathroom wall, impatiently waiting for the results. Her leg pounced as her mind raced with stress, and the thoughts of what's next.

Where does she go from here?

How far along is she?

Will she even keep it?

Brooklyn was pulled from her thoughts from a call from her mom, Angel. The absolute last person she wanted to talk to right now. Shaking her head she turned her ringer off and flipped her phone on its face.

She saw the test had loaded.

Pregnant+

This shit wouldn't lie a third time, right? She thought, ripping open another box in frustration and anger.

Brooklyn could take a thousand more tests in this moment but nothing would change the fact of the matter. She was one hundred percent pregnant.

How would she get in touch with him? She doesn't have his personal cell, she'd have to find and call up to his work office and hope he's available to talk to some random girl who claims they hooked up and is now pregnant.

Imagine he thinks im crazy and looking for a payout. Brooklyn thought.

"He's definitely not gonna believe me." She groaned, cupping her face in her hands. "What the fuckkk, Brooklyn." She cursed herself. "What the fuck..."

Torrian adjusted his tie as he looked around the conference room. "Alright, team. First, let me say I appreciate the long hours everyone put in last quarter. But now we need to address a few concerns." He started.

"Our operational costs have increased by 12%—that's not sustainable. Ella, can you start us off with the main culprits?

Ella, one of his department employees sat up in her seat before speaking. "Yes, Sir, well the biggest factor is the spike in transportation and logistics costs. We've been outsourcing a lot of fuel delivery, and those contracts have gotten pricier. On top of that, equipment maintenance has exceeded its budget by 18%.
