"Yeah, mom, i know." Brooklyn rolled her eyes while on the phone with her mother, Angel.
She had been feeling ill these last couple days and mentioned it to her mom. Angel being overly cautious by nature insisted she went to doctor but Brooklyn didn't feel it was that serious.
It was just nausea and occasional dizziness. Brooklyn figured it was a stomach bug or maybe due to the cold weather.
"I'm just making sure. You're very forgetful." Angel said and Brooklyn sighed.
"I have to go."
"Look okay, but are you still coming over next week for Dana's family gathering? You've missed the last couple family events going on..." Angel trailed off."I'll be there."
"Okay." Angel sighed, knowing not to take her word for it. "Love you."
"Same." Brooklyn said before hanging up. "Y'all and them damn gatherings." She muttered, putting down her brush.
Her mother's side of the family are very close knit. They make it a priority to host different events to bring the family together. It could be a birthday, holiday or just because it's Saturday, it feels good outside, and ain't nobody doing shit else.
Brooklyn adored her family, don't get her wrong but it could be excessive. Does she really have to attend every single gathering?
Them muhfuckers just be bored. She thought as she finished slicking her hair back in a ponytail and adding a little edges.
She stepped back to fully look at herself. Brooklyn had on scrubs, a navy blue set today. She paired it with a long sleeved, black undershirt and her fluffy black crocs. She sprayed on her vanilla scented perfume before taking a few photos in the bathroom mirror.
Brooklyn worked as a radiologist at a clinic that she'd been at for a little over 3 years now. She received her degree and graduated back when she was 20. Now, at 24 she's back in school for her bachelor's in science to obtain her Nursing License. Currently in her last year of school, she is scheduled to graduate next spring.
Her current job was nice but she often found herself feeling burnt out. Brooklyn felt like it was time for something new and since she was already in the healthcare field, she figured nursing school seemed smart and it would open up more job opportunities. The money was also better.
She worked this job on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays while she attended in-person classes on Monday-Wednesdays. On Thursdays she has an online class, and her professor only hosts his Friday classes on certain weeks.
Her schedule was hectic and overwhelming but it fit Brooklyn being that she likes to keep busy.
She grabbed her light pink Stanley Cup and keys before walking out the door of her apartment.
She was running a bit late for work. She ran her hand through her thick and curly ponytail as she settled into her drivers seat. She pushed the keys into her white, 2014 Kia Optima. Her baby. Brooklyn named the car Cookie. This was her first big girl purchase at 19 years old, and she's cherished it ever since. It rarely gave her problems. Brooklyn often says. "I treat her like a princess, and in return she holds me down, faithfully."
