The Matsuno household was buzzing with its usual chaos. Pillows flew across the living room. Bags of snacks lay torn open across the floor. Karamatsu and Choromatsu were arguing over the TV remote while Ichimatsu silently fed one of his cats on the windowsill. Todomatsu lounged on the couch with perfect posture, occasionally snapping photos of his tea. Jyushimatsu leapt over furniture as if the floor were lava.

And in the corner, Haruto sat in silence, flipping through a magazine. After surviving Jyushimatsu's high-energy baseball trial and an entire afternoon of teasing over Nyaa Hashimoto, he figured he'd earned at least one peaceful day.

He figured wrong.

Osomatsu (suddenly clapping loudly): Alright, everyone! Listen up. It's time for... the final test.

Haruto lowered his magazine slowly, eyes narrowing.

Haruto (weary): Final test?

Osomatsu leaned against the wall with a mischievous smirk as the room quieted.

Osomatsu (smirking): That's right, Haruto. My test. The ultimate test. The one that proves whether you're truly worthy of being a Matsuno brother.

Ichimatsu (snickering): Oh, this is going to be good.

Choromatsu (skeptical): You sure this isn't just another excuse to mess with him?

Osomatsu (mock offense): Me? Mess with him? Choromatsu, I'm wounded.

Karamatsu (noble): Fear not, Haruto! You'll emerge stronger from this trial.

Haruto let out a breath, already regretting this.

Haruto (groaning): Okay... what's the test?

Osomatsu (grinning wider): Simple. You're going to survive a day with me. Just me. No brothers, no backup. If you make it out alive—congrats! You're officially one of us.

The day began in chaos—of course.

Haruto awoke to an air horn blaring directly beside his ear... followed by a freezing splash of water.

Osomatsu (cheerfully): Rise and shine, Haruto! It's test day!

Haruto (shouting): Are you trying to kill me?!

Osomatsu (grinning): Only if you fail. Get dressed! We've got big plans!

Still soaking and dazed, Haruto stumbled into his clothes and found Osomatsu already waiting outside—with two bicycles.

Osomatsu: First activity: a friendly race. First one to the top of the hill wins.

Haruto (narrowing his eyes): What's the catch?

Osomatsu: No catch! Just pedal fast and—oh, yeah. Watch out for the dogs.

As if on cue, a pack of excited, barking strays rounded the corner. Haruto's eyes widened.

Haruto (panicked): Where did these come from?!

Osomatsu (laughing): I might've given them sausage. You smell like water and fear!

Haruto pedaled for his life.

After surviving the "dog chase," Osomatsu led Haruto to the river, where a flimsy raft bobbed along the edge.

Osomatsu (excited): Next—river rafting! Easy peasy!

Haruto (deadpan): That water doesn't look peaceful.

Osomatsu: It builds character!

Within minutes, they were hurtling downstream, crashing through currents and dodging low-hanging branches.

Haruto (shouting): This is NOT safe!

Osomatsu (grinning as they spun): Just hold on! Watch out for the whirlpool!

Haruto barely clung to the raft as it spun in dizzy circles. By the time they reached the shore, his legs were soaked, and his body shook from cold and panic.

Haruto (glaring): What's next? Volcano jumping?

Osomatsu (shrugging): Nah. That's next week.

As the sun dipped lower, Osomatsu revealed the final test.

Osomatsu (handing him a paper): One-hour scavenger hunt. Find everything on this list.

Haruto read aloud in disbelief.

Haruto: A pineapple with no green... a single chicken feather... and something that smells worse than Ichimatsu-nii-san's shoes?

Ichimatsu (flatly from behind): You'll never find it. My shoes are one of a kind.

Osomatsu winked.

Osomatsu: Good luck, Haruto! Timer starts... now!

Through the crowded market, Haruto sprinted like a man on a mission. He dodged carts, sidestepped toddlers, and somehow managed to retrieve every bizarre item—including a half-rotten durian that made even the vendors wince.

Breathless and sweaty, he arrived at the designated bench exactly on the hour.

Haruto (gasping): Done. I'm alive. Barely.

Osomatsu (cheering): Congrats! You survived the Osomatsu Test!

Back at home, the other brothers greeted them with mock applause.

Choromatsu: So? Did he pass?

Osomatsu: He did. Barely. But he passed.

Ichimatsu (nodding): I thought the dogs would get him.

Jyushimatsu (grinning): Haruto! You're a legend!

Karamatsu (placing a hand on his shoulder): You have conquered the storm, Haruto. Well done.

Haruto sank into the couch, exhausted beyond words.

Haruto (quietly): Thanks... I think.

As the brothers burst into more laughter and teasing, Haruto looked around at the chaos. Enduring Osomatsu's wild test wasn't about surviving pranks or enduring pain.

It was about surviving the storm...
