Jimin's P.O.V

The abrupt question steered Jimin's facade away to something a little more complex. He wasn't expecting to be interrogated out of the blue. Usually he would always have the answers to any given question, but oddly enough he couldn't find the right words to explain.

In front of him — Y/n's eyes fixed so intently with his, beckoning him for the truth. She was pleading for him to answer her. "Please just tell me you're just toying with me, right?" Were the words he could register from the ongoing chatters around them. Jimin stood there, feeling conflicted with his own intentions. He too didn't understand what he was doing.

He parted his lips, trying to formulate a response back, but nothing came out. The inability to give her an answer was bothering him.

What was wrong with him? Was he scared? By any chance was he afraid to open up, and have his vulnerability be heard? These relentless questions flooded his mind, leaving him perplexed by his own thoughts.

Am I really that weak to express my feelings?

Jimin pondered to himself a little longer than necessary, which only riled Y/n further than before.

"Why can't you just answer me?" She spat her words out with thinking, taking a step closer towards him in her attempts to assert dominance between them for once. His silence would only drive the situation more complicated if he didn't give her an exact answer. He knew he didn't have to yet he wanted to.

No that was wrong.

He needed to.

"You want an answer that badly?" Jimin licked his lower lip. A habit he developed whenever he was nervous. "I'll give you one then." He remarked with a hoarse voice, quickly grabbing Y/n's wrist and hastily pulling her away from the peering eyes in the banquet room.

Your P.O.V

You were suddenly dragged out of the room, taken to a secluded area away from prying eyes. Once the two of you arrived to the area, Jimin cornered you, ensuring your back was touching the wall.

"What are you doing..?" You reluctantly asked, looking into his unreadable expression, trying to search for an answer through his eyes.

"You wanted to know why, didn't you?" Jimin answered shortly with his icy blue eyes never leaving yours.

"I do.." You returned a slow nod, your eyes beckoning him to answer these flooding questions in your mind. After that response it was complete utter silence. The only sounds that could be heard were the muffled chatting from the other room, orchestrating tunes that were played by the royal musicians, and your very own heart beat.

The silence left a strange feeling. You could sense his unwavering gaze remained locked onto yours, never once pulling away. His eyes were completely laced with conflicting emotions. The evident turmoil was etched in his gaze, almost as if he too was perplexed by his own desires.

Finally from what it felt like an eternity, Jimin finally reciprocated reluctant sigh. His tongue slowly swiped across his lower lip as his slender fingers ran through that beautifully arranged hair that simply accentuate his good looks.

"I don't know." He murmured his answer.

He didn't know? By the tone of his voice he sounded rather timid. For once you were able to witness this — Jimin, the man that everyone feared, never once expressed anything but condescension was unsure? That didn't sound right.

Your brows furrowed slightly. "You don't know?" You repeated his words, your voice carrying a hint of skepticism.

"Why don't you know?" You prompted him to continue, hoping for a clearer answer.

From your question you noticed the same perplexed expression on his face had now became aggravated. The same behavior from before, however this time he avoided your demanding gaze.

"I just don't know." Jimin repeated the same response from behavior.

Instead of being understanding with his perspective, you gradually became quite irritated by his evasive answers. You didn't want the same responses over and over again. What you long for was a reason. Clearly distressed by his lack of reciprocity, you instinctively clenched your fist as your gaze began narrowing, clearly etched with anger.

"You expect me to believe that?" Finally you snapped, taking a step forward for once asserting something between the two of you.

"I know you're lying to me!" You backed Jimin against the wall, watching as his eyes widened as your hand grabbed a fistful of his shirt.

The absolute anger that surge through your body was overwhelmingly evident. Despite this fuming rage you felt, you still couldn't quite understand why you were bothered. Sure, Jimin was a complete hypocrite, treating you nothing more but his personal entertainment. You knew that. Yet your heart was seeing the whole thing differently.

The answer was clear. You liked him.

You knew you shouldn't, knowing the things he had done to you were undeniably wrong, but your heart longed for him.

Your eyes continued to hold his perplexed gaze, his lack of reciprocation would only succumb you to further in your fuming distress. Despite your inner turmoil clearly seeking for something more, you eventually experience a separate feeling — resignation.

Perhaps you realized it was immature to be reacting this way. Clearly the man in front of you held no intentions to deepen the chemistry here. It was probably set in stone that you remain as the Queen with no title in this kingdom. Reluctantly your clenched hands finally releases from his now wrinkled shirt, pulling away as they fell on either side of your hips.

"You know what..? Just.. forget it." You murmured, slowly turning away with your gaze wavering as tears soon build up on the corner of your eyes. Quickly fleeing the scene you were abruptly stopped when sudden grab on your wrist tugged you back.

"What are you doing?" Your gaze remained still, refusing to look him in the eye as your tears slowly streamed out your cheek.

There was no response. The same behavior from behavior continued to annoy you. Without another word you tried to yank your wrist out of his grasp, but no matter how hard you tried pulling his grip would only tighten.

"What are you doing...??" You repeated your words once again, your voice was trembling as you murmured your question. Once more there was that same prolonging silence from him. The stillness in the air would only thicken further, finally you decided to turn your head around to meet his gaze.

The previous impassive look in his eyes were no longer present. Instead they were softening to the point where it expressed his vulnerability.

"Y/n." Finally Jimin spoke up, his voice holding a softer edge as his grip began to loosen a bit.

"If I told you.. I'm not the heartless man you believe I was, would you believe me?"
