Hearts In Tune 12
“Let’s revisit this plan in Q4, we have more pressing issues to tackle in Q3.” The employee Sameerah was referring to swiped his company issued tablet to the next slide and Sameerah nodded as she read through the plans outlined in the slide. She was on the last slide when she heard the sound of helicopter blades and the telltale stomp of the aircraft landing on the helipad with a frown on her face.
She dismissed the employee and smoothed out her silk blouse with exaggerated drape lapels that drew her in when she bought it. She left her office and alerted her secretary to set out some of the English earl grey tea that her father loved so much. She took the private elevator on her end and walked out into the sunshine to greet her father but he had gone through the main factory doors, someone who looked like Sa’ad at his heels.
Sameerah called one of the employees manning the main factory doors and asked if her brother had arrived alongside her father and when the man nodded, she smiled with a slight scoff and walked back to her office. She got to work going through the financials because her father was definitely not there for a courtesy visit, she had to be ready.
About thirty minutes later, her father flowed into the office, took off the hard hat that safety mandated everyone in the factory wear and asked her, “You didn’t hear I arrived?”
Sameerah smiled disarmingly and vacated her chair for her father to sit on, she turned around the table to sit down as she said, “I knew you’d come to look at your investment, what better way for you to do so if not without me there? I hope you have something pointers for us.”
Her father blinked, narrowed his eyes before taking time to pour his tea, in what looked to Sameerah like he was planning his next point of attack. Sameerah sat in front him quietly, waiting for him to speak.
“You really like this boy? That Rano boy?” Sameerah blinked, with a smirk that threatened to rise but she forced it down quickly and nodded. This was her chance to get things in place.
“He came to me yesterday. Told me about the good things you’re doing here, how he would never stop you from continuing it, which I personally think is foolish because it would mean he can’t rule over his home. But, he made a good case for himself and I’m now amenable to the idea. I have not accepted yet.” Sameerah smiled with her head down and locked and unlocked her fingers in what she hoped looked like the perfect picture of a blushing woman in love, which was everything she was absolutely not.
