Aayan headed down the stairs in the morning, moving to sit on the couch, where Aryan had already taken a seat, "Good Morning, Baba,"
"Good morning, baccha," Aryan said, pressing a loving kiss to Aayan's head.
"The reports were delivered by Sammy about a few minutes ago," Aryan said as he placed his phone in his lap.
"It must be the blood test results," Aayan murmured. He collected the file from the table and took a seat next to Aryan, keenly studying the file.
His gaze weighed heaving on two words, though he had predicted this, knowing that Rishan had cardiovascular disease at such a young age, was like an arrow in his heart.
"Why do you seem so tense?" Aryan asked.
"Rishan has cardiovascular disease," Aayan muttered, flicking to the next page, "As well as a low immunity system that has impacted his overall health. He's underweight for a teenager his age and malnourished."
Aryan did not respond but his brows had dipped, he had just met the boy, but the sadness he felt on his behalf could only be felt for people who are our own. "He's so young then how-"
"Isn't it clear? His family was harsh with him, especially after his mother passed away. When he needed support and love, Rishan had to manage on his own. His physical and mental health were both ignored." Aayan said, anger coating his tone. "According to the file, he had no medical check-up for years, that explains it all. He was neglected!"
Aryan unlocked his phone, absently scrolling through tabs as he fell in deep thought, "You have information on those people, right?"
"Yeah," Aayan said, re-reading through the documented pages.
"Even better. I don't have to spend time looking into his ex-family. I'll have this sorted out and I'll take my time with his stepbrother-Pardon me, ex-stepbrother-teaching him a valuable lesson that he won't forget for life,"
"Rishan wouldn't like that though," Aayan grumbled, placing the file on the couch when his eyes fell on the documents that were seated in the drawer.
"He wouldn't be meeting them ever again so who would dare to tell him of what has happened. I wouldn't do much, I'll have our men roughen them up a bit, nothing much,"
"I see." Aayan smirked, "Are those adoption papers?"
Aryan followed his line of vision and nodded, "Yes,"
"That was fast," Aayan commented.
Aryan scoffed, smacking the back of Aayan's head, "Of course, I can't wait to have Rishan living under our roof as my son and your brother. He has already occupied a place for himself in my heart,"
"I couldn't agree less-"
Rishan stumbled into the living room, rubbing his dishevelled hair and the elder two internally melted at the sight. Aayan was the first one to offer a teasing greeting, "Good morning, bird nest,"
Rishan glanced behind him and around the room before the meaning struck his mind and he gasped, "I'm not a bird nest!"
"Your hair looks like it though, isn't it, Baba?" Aayan teased.
Aryan rolled his eyes as he offered Rishan a small smile, "Good morning, Shan. How did you sleep, baccha?"
"Good," Rishan happily murmured. He moved past Aayan's outstretched hand and took a seat next to Aryan.
"Hey!" Aayan said. "How could you ignore me like that?"
"Like I did a second ago," Rishan murmured, still not too confident to maintain eye contact with him.
