I ignored that horn specialist behind me and moved towards my destination

I ignored that horn specialist behind me and moved towards my destination. The crime scene wasn't far now, but my mind refused to stay in the present. Today has been overwhelming in so many ways-first Ishaan Bhai's call, then my medical reports, and then that insufferable boy at the signal. Gosh, it felt like the universe had decided to make this day as exhausting as possible.

Ishaan Bhai was right; I should visit home, at least once. Only I know how much I long to meet Bhaiyas, Bhabhi, and Maa-Papa. But no matter how much I try, I can't bring myself to face them.

It's not because I don't want to; it's because I was "pushed away". My father-the man I adored, respected, and thought I could never disappoint-was the one who decided I didn't belong anymore. His harsh words, his cold eyes, they haunt me. I still remember the day he told me to leave, his voice laced with disappointment, as if my dreams and choices were crimes he could never forgive.

I wanted to fight back, to tell him I was still his daughter, still the same Meerab who looked up to him. But my words failed me, and his silence after that day has been louder than anything I've ever heard.

I miss my little champ, Ahaana, the way she calls me "Bui" in her baby voice. I ache to hold her in my arms, to see her tiny hands reaching for me. But more than her, I miss my Rishi Bhai and Ishaan Bhai. They've always been my anchors, my safe haven.

Rishi Bhai, being the eldest, was my protector, my guide. He stepped into the role of a father whenever Papa's strictness became too much for me to handle. And Ishuu Bhai, my partner in crime, my biggest cheerleader-he always made me believe I could conquer anything. They fought for me when I couldn't fight for myself, but even they couldn't change Papa's decision.

And now, even though they call me, beg me to come back, I can't. How can I return when the one person I craved approval from made it clear he didn't want me? The guilt of staying away eats at me, but the fear of being unwanted again is even worse.

I sighed, trying to shake off the heaviness in my chest as I approached the crime scene. The stench of blood and death filled the air, pulling me back to reality. I stepped closer, scanning the area, trying to focus on the task at hand.

And then it happened.

I bumped into something-or someone.

"What the-" I muttered, stumbling back slightly. My eyes snapped up, ready to scold whoever had the audacity to get in my way. And then I froze.

It was "him."

The boy from the signal.

I clenched my jaw, irritation flaring up instantly. Of all the people in the world, why did it have to be him?

I was in the middle of examining the crime scene when someone slammed into my back, nearly making me lose my balance. "What the-" I spun around, ready to lash out, but froze the moment I saw her.

Out of all the people, it had to be "her". The loud, overconfident signal girl who had already driven me to the brink of insanity this morning. Was the universe playing some kind of cruel joke on me?

"You?!" she said, her voice sharp and unmistakably annoyed.

"You again?" I shot back, my frustration bubbling over.

She had the audacity to glare at me, crossing her arms like she was the one inconvenienced. "Do you always stand around like a signpost, or is this some special skill of yours?"

I couldn't help it-a humorless chuckle escaped me. "And do you always wander around like a blindfolded tourist? Or is this just your natural talent?"

Her jaw tightened, her fiery eyes practically daring me to keep going. I half-expected her to lunge at me. God, she was infuriating.

Before she could respond, one of the officers coughed, reminding us we weren't alone. She turned back to the scene, her cheeks slightly flushed. Was that embarrassment? No, not her. She didn't seem like the type to get embarrassed.

"What are you even doing here?" she asked sharply, as if I was the one out of place.

I straightened, brushing off imaginary dust from my sleeve. "I'm the lawyer handling this case. Abhay Roy. And you?"

Her eyes narrowed, but there was no missing the pride in her tone. "Meerab Taneja. Criminal officer in charge of this case."

"Hmm i see lawyer, bhaiya paise deke lawyer toh nhi bane na??matlab jaisa aapka humor work karta hai lagta hai 30-35 sal ke toh honge hi" she said rolling her eyes..

What the hell did she just made fun of my face and my work..ohh madam oh sorry miss little, "pehle mujhe laga ki aap sirf dikhne mein bachi ho par aap ne saabit kar diya ki aap ek choti bachi hai, what do you mean 30-35 saal, 26 saal ka hu theek hai aur degree meine bhot mehnat se li hai so don't you dare to say anything to my work.."i said giving her warning but it seems like she was always ready for come back...

Bachi ?? Lawyer sahab 24 saal ki hu, well independent, smart and beautiful..she said with a proud smile..

And then she smiled. That damn dimple when she smiles. Fuck, Her dimple smile did something to my heart. It was like a spark, unexpected and dangerous, making the air between us heavier, more intense. I hated it, and yet, I couldn't ignore the way it twisted something inside me..

Both of them were arguing as if there was a competition going on, but their banter was interrupted by one of the senior officers

Both of them were arguing as if there was a competition going on, but their banter was interrupted by one of the senior officers.

"If both of you want to keep arguing like this, then just LEAVE," he said, silencing them immediately.

But it was no use. Both were still glaring at each other, their eyes locked in an unspoken battle. For a brief moment, their souls seemed to leave their bodies when they found out they were both in charge of the same case and would have to work together.

As expected, Meerab's running mouth couldn't stay quiet. She muttered loud enough for everyone to hear, "I can't even stand this man for two seconds."

Abhay bent down to her level, his voice low and dangerous as he whispered in her ear, "If you can't stand me, then sit down, miss little."
