"Trying to escape little snake" said the dragon king. "Did you really think I would let you go that easily"
Tightening his hand on the robe beside heart little snake narrowed his eyes at the dragon.
"You..." He spoke through pain. "What have you d...
After the Dragon King left the room, the little snake slowly opened his eyes. His gaze drifted to his hand, where the Dragon King had kissed him moments ago.
"What is that old pervert thinking, kissing people while they're asleep?" he muttered under his breath.
Getting off the bed he walked to the window, carefully pulled back the curtain, and watched the Dragon King already leaving the inn.
"What is he up to?" he muttered to himself. He looked at the waistband tied around his wrist and tried to remove it, but it wouldn't budge. "How did he even tie this?" he muttered, still watching the Dragon King's retreating figure.
Once the Dragon King disappeared from sight, the little snake took out a whistle and blew into it. A shadow flickered past the window.
"Greetings, My prince" a man said, kneeling before him.
"I told you not to call me that" the little snake replied, frowning. "Get up."
"Yes, my prince," the shadow guard said as he stood.
"Mo Yun has returned to the tribe" the shadow guard said, holding out a box with both hands. "He asked me to deliver this to you."
The little snake opened the box and found a glowing golden rope inside. As soon as he touched it, the rope wrapped itself around his wrist and disappeared into his sleeve.
"The Soul-Binding Rope, as you said, was among your mother's belongings" the shadow guard explained. (The Soul-Binding Rope locks away a person's demonic or spiritual power, weakening them to the level of an ordinary human.)
"Good work" the little snake said.
Just as the shadow guard began to reply, both of them sensed movement outside the window. The shadow guard stepped forward, shielding the little snake, and gestured for him to hide.
A figure tried to enter through the window, but the shadow guard moved swiftly, grabbing the intruder and slamming him against the wall. He pressed a dagger to the intruder's neck. The boy who had entered tried to fight back, but the shadow guard blocked him, tightening the blade enough to draw a thin line of blood.
"Stop" the little snake called, stepping out of the shadows. "Let him go."
The shadow guard released the boy without questioning.
"Pei Siheng" the little snake called the boy. "Are you crazy? What are you doing here?"

"I... I..." the boy stammered.
"Was it you this time too?" the little snake asked sharply.
"No, it wasn't me, I swear" Pei Siheng denied quickly. "I came here following my sister. It really wasn't me this time"
"He's no danger. You can leave now" the little snake said to the shadow guard.
