"Trying to escape little snake" said the dragon king. "Did you really think I would let you go that easily"
Tightening his hand on the robe beside heart little snake narrowed his eyes at the dragon.
"You..." He spoke through pain. "What have you d...
"Two years ago, a farmer was murdered in Yunxi Village" Pei Sijing began explaining. "His heart was taken out, and his body looked like all the life had been drained from it. It was just dried skin clinging to bones. It didn't seem like something a human could do, so the Demon Hunting Bureau took the case. But we couldn't find any leads. Not long after, more murders like this happened in the village.
We started patrolling at night to protect the villagers. One night, one of our men saw someone suspicious near a villager's house. We chased him, but when some of our men checked the house, they found the villager already dead. We finally caught up to the person near the village marketplace. It was my brother. He wouldn't surrender, so I had no choice but to shoot him.
As we tried to capture him, someone threw a poisoned smoke bomb. It made our men lose consciousness, and my brother escaped. Later, when we searched the area, we found a wristband that belonged to Mo yichen." Pei Sijing looked at the little snake.
"We arrested him, but he claimed he'd been at the market earlier that day and had lost the wristband there. Many sellers confirmed he was there during the day and it was their first time seeing him. After that, we couldn't find my brother again, and the murders in the village stopped."
"But now, the same kind of murders have started again in Spring Blossom Village, not far from here." Bai Zhi, the goddess, looked at the Dragon King. "When I saw the murders, I came to you. At that time, I didn't know there had been a similar case before or that Mo Yichen was involved. Yesterday afternoon, I met Pei Sijing and learned about it."
"Dragon king" ying lei spoke. "Do you happen to know any demons who kill this way"
"No, but since it's not far from here why don't we go and take a look" the dragon king said. "I want to see it by myself"
"We don't have to worry about how far it is" Ying lei said getting up putting a mountain shaped incense burner in the middle of the table.

"What is this" The little snake aked.
"It's called shanhai portal" The dragon king explained. "It's an artifact that mountain gods use to teleport across hills and peaks"
"Whoa, that's cool" The little snake said eyes shining. "Can anyone use it"
"Of course it require mountain god to cast a spell" When dragon king said that ying lei proudly smiled.
"Let's go then" he said taking the incense burner to his hand.

"Just the right place" Ying Lei said as they appeared in front of a mortuary. "This is where all the bodies are kept" he added, pointing at the building.
"I’m a physician. I only work with living people" Bai Jiu said, raising his pointer finger like a teacher explaining something. "Dead bodies are not my thing. I’m not going in."
"What are you talking about?" Ying Lei said, grabbing his arm. "Physicians can learn a lot from bodies. Come on." He pulled Bai Jiu inside, despite his protesting screams, with the others following behind.
The mortuary keeper led them to the room where the victims bodies were stored. They were laid out in a row, covered with white cloths, and organized by their dates of death.
The Dragon King pulled the cloth off one body. It looked exactly as Pei Sijing had described. Suddenly, there was a loud thud. They turned and saw Bai Jiu had fainted on the floor.
The little snake scoffed, but the Dragon King shot him a glare, silencing him.
"Ying Lei, please take him outside" Pei Sijing said calmly.
"Got it" Ying Lei replied, dragging Bai Jiu out by his hands. "How didhe manage to join demon hunting bureau"
The Dragon King examined the body closely, trying to sense any trace of demonic energy left by the murderer. The little snake stood beside him, watching.
"Did you find anything?" Wen Xiao asked.
"No" the Dragon King replied.
'He's lying' the little snake thought, noticing his reaction. 'He definitely found something.'
"Let me search the village for any signs of demonic energy" the Dragon King said.
"I already checked using Bai Zhi’s token" Wen Xiao replied. "I didn’t find anything."
The Dragon King nodded and turned to Pei Sijing. "Can you give me a map of the village with the murder locations marked?" Pei Sijing nodded in agreement.
As it got late, they decided to rest at an inn in the village. The Dragon King went to his room with the map. Ying Lei stayed to take care of Bai Jiu, while Wen Xiao and Pei Sijing searched through books for information about this type of demon. The little snake went back to his own room.
Late at night the little snake heard his room door opening, he was ready to reach for the dragger below his pillow when the familiar scent of dragon king filled the room so he kept pretending to be sleeping.
The Dragon King walked to the bed where the little snake was sleeping and sat on the edge. He watched the little snake sleep peacefully for a moment. Then, he gently took his hand, tied the waistband from before around his wrist, and cast a spell to ensure it couldn’t be removed. After placing a soft kiss on his hand, he tucked it back under the blanket, adjusted the little snake’s covers, and quietly left the room.
