Prologue
War...
War never changes...
When the bombs fell during the Great War in 2077, and atomic fire consumed the earth, those who survived did so in giant vaults. When these vaults finally their inhabitants set out across ruins...
As Six had anticipated, the remaining structures within Camp Searchlight proved to be ripe for exploration. Though the schoolhouse didn't offer much in the way of valuable salvage, it yielded a decent amount of scrap metal. While most people would disregard it as junk, to Six, this was a significant find. Scrap metal was a key component of weapon repair kits, and Six was running dangerously low on them, therefore was more than eager to replenish his stock. With a little wasteland ingenuity, the right materials, and a workbench, he hoped to transform this scrap into something he could use to keep his weapons in tip-top shape. However, while rifling through the schoolhouse's debris, Six and Loona were set upon by a small group of golden geckos that had been attracted to the warmth and radiation that permeated the town. Though large, agile, and incredibly ferocious, these creatures were worth taking down for their meat and hide. Gecko hide was a valuable commodity in the wasteland, especially if it had been tanned, and Six had amassed quite a supply of white horsenettle and turpentine before leaving Goodsprings, which would be useful for tanning the hides once he found himself a suitable campfire. So after swiftly dispatching the geckos, he set about expertly removing the hide and any good meat he could find. Gecko meat, while not the tastiest, was still a valuable food source in an otherwise desolate wasteland, and he knew many people who would gladly purchase a good cut of meat. The promise of fresh meat, valuable hide, and useful crafting materials motivated him to continue picking over the town.
After processing the geckos and clearing out the schoolhouse, Six and Loona headed to the ruined church on the eastern side of the town. As they approached, one look at the main structure told Six that there was nothing left for him to find. Its roof and walls had collapsed years ago, exposing the interior to the elements and past scavengers. It was clear there was no chance it would contain anything of value. However, as he scanned the ruins, Six's keen eye noticed the church had a basement, its doors weathered by time but still firmly closed. Perhaps there was still something of value to be found there after all. So, with Loona's help, Six pried open the basement door and descended into the dark, dusty basement. Upon descending to the bottom of the basement, Six and Loona were instantly set upon by a small group of golden geckos that had somehow found their way into the basement. While the geckos attempted to turn them into a snack, even landing a few bites on the pair, Six and Loona were able to swiftly dispatch them before turning their attention to the rest of the basement. While the basement was mostly empty, save for a few old pieces of furniture, there were a couple of items of interest. The first item was a still-intact US Covert Operation Manual that was lying on one of the shelves on the left-hand side of the basement. The second was a couple of boxes sitting on one of the tables, one box containing two mini-nukes and the other box containing three unusual grenades. While on the surface the three grenades looked like regular fragmentation grenades, each grenade had a white cross painted on it, more specifically, a crucifix. Not only that, but next to the box was a sign painted on the bottom of another box with some specific instructions on how to use the grenades.
