Wei Wuxian sat motionless in the small, secluded garden behind the house, the evening breeze brushing against his skin as he stared at his trembling hands. The truth he had uncovered swirled in his mind, unyielding and heavy. For weeks, he had blamed his dizziness, nausea, and fatigue on stress, the relentless weight of the family's expectations pressing down on him at every turn. But a visit to the physician had shattered the illusion, confirming what he had not dared to imagine: he was pregnant.
The world around him felt distorted, as though he were watching life unfold from behind a pane of glass. He had not sought this, had not planned for it, but now it was a reality he could not escape. The life growing inside him was an unexpected gift, but it was also a burden he could never have prepared for. How would Lan Wangji react? How would the Lan family respond to this?
Wei Wuxian closed his eyes, taking a steadying breath. The thought of telling Wangji terrified him. Their relationship had never been simple, never been easy. It was built on a foundation of resentment and unspoken pain, and this news threatened to crumble even that fragile connection. And yet, he couldn't keep it from him. Wangji had a right to know.
With a deep sense of dread curling in his stomach, Wei Wuxian made his way inside, every step heavier than the last. When he found Wangji, it was in the study, where the younger man sat surrounded by open books, none of which he seemed to be reading. The silence in the room was thick with an unspoken tension, and when Wangji looked up, his gaze was guarded, cold.
"I need to talk to you," Wei Wuxian's voice cracked on the words, betraying the storm of emotions swirling within him.
Wangji's eyes narrowed, his frown deepening. "What is it?"
Wei Wuxian took a slow breath, trying to calm the frantic beating of his heart. He clenched his hands into fists, willing them to stop shaking. "I'm... I'm pregnant."
The words hung in the air, sharp and final. Wangji's expression froze, his eyes widening in disbelief. He blinked, as if he couldn't quite process what he had heard. "What?"
Wei Wuxian swallowed hard and repeated, his voice quieter now, laced with a mix of sorrow and defiance. "I'm pregnant. It's yours."
The silence that followed was unbearable, stretching long between them. Wangji stood up abruptly, his chair scraping harshly against the floor. His movements were stiff, mechanical, as though his body had refused to accept the reality of the situation. "How is that possible? You're—"
"I'm an omega," Wei Wuxian interrupted, his voice cutting through the air. "You're an alpha. We... we knotted. Bonded or not, it's a natural process. So, yes. I'm pregnant. And whether we're ready for it or not, this is happening."
Wangji's face shifted, disbelief melting into something darker—anger. His jaw clenched, his eyes flashing with a fury that made Wei Wuxian flinch. "This is your way of trapping me, isn't it? Of making sure I can't leave?" His voice trembled with the force of his words.
Wei Wuxian's chest tightened at the accusation. "You really think that little of me?" His voice shook, but he stood his ground.
"I don't know what to think!" Wangji snapped, the dam of emotions he had been holding back finally breaking. His voice rose, the weight of years of frustration spilling out. "Everything about this—about us—is wrong!"
Wei Wuxian's heart pounded in his chest, a sharp ache threatening to consume him. His eyes stung, but he refused to let the tears fall. He hadn't planned this, hadn't hoped for it, but it was here now. And they had to face it. "I didn't plan this!" he shot back, his anger rising in turn. "Do you think I wanted this? Do you think I don't know how messed up this is? But it's happening, Wangji, and we have to deal with it!"
