My life before was just like my name, Haven. Everything was peaceful, everything went my way, and I had everything that I needed. If I wanted something, I'd have it in a snap. I didn't need to move, make an effort, or work for it. I just needed my d...

CHAPTER 27: SHOOT HIM OR I WILL
HAVEN'S POV
The whole place exploded into frenzy. Their thirst to see the two men in the cage fight couldn't be denied. They are here for the spectacle. They are here expecting and craving a bloodbath—for the carnage they know for sure will happen.
Allessio winked at me at the same time that the gate of the cage shut close. The sound of it jolted me from where I was frozen solid, letting the surge of worry course right through me.
"Stop him." I turn to Lorenzo frantically. "What are you doing? You need to stop him!"
"I'm sorry, signorina, but we cannot do that."
I gaped at him in disbelief, but my attention got pulled away when I heard the announcer's booming voice declare the beginning of the fight.
I watched as the almost playful expression Allessio has for me faded and was replaced by one that wants to make me shiver. The look he had was so cold and dead that it was surprising that the opponent just grinned menacingly in response.
Lazzaro was confident, and I don't think it's just for show. The fact that he's facing Allessio must mean something.
Allessio explained to me earlier that the blue corner is the challenger and the red one is the defending champion. Lazzaro must have beaten a lot of people to have the chance to challenge Allessio for a match.
"Tell me he knows what he's doing, Lorenzo." My heart is beating so hard inside my chest that I wouldn't be surprised if it broke my ribcage. I feel like I've been injected of ice straight to my veins.
The fighter from the blue corner is already starting to move, while Allessio just stood there with his eyes following his opponent's every movement.
I covered my mouth when Lazzaro attacked, and Allessio didn't dodge it. He managed to block the man's fist, but of course, it hit another part of his body. It kept happening repeatedly until Allessio had to start moving to continue defending himself.
Not once did Allessio attack. He's just blocking everything.
I almost shot up to my feet when Lazzaro's fist grazed Allessio's on his last strike. It wasn't enough to cause great damage, but it was strong enough to make his lips bleed.
"Shoot him." My hand darted out, and it landed on Lorenzo's hand. I cling to him, desperate to make him do as I ask. "Shoot him or I will!"
A part of me wants to shoot Lorenzo himself when he just smiles at me as if he's finding me amusing. "I don't think there's a need for that."
"What?!"
He tipped his chin towards the cage, and I saw that Allessio's arms are up, still on defense from Lazzaro's unending punches. But instead of his blazing eyes being on his opponent, to my surprise, he was looking in our direction—at Lorenzo and me.
