"Oh you up"

I blinked slowly and allowed my eyes to return back into focus. Mom stared down at me and stroked the side of my cheek, the warmth of her hands made me feel even more safer. I'm guessing it was morning but Damien was no where to be seen, the chair in the corner was empty yet there was a faint bitter scent of smoke in the air indicating he must have stayed a while for the smoke to stay in the room. But the good thing was, I was still alive and breathing...well barely.

"I'm taking you to Dr Mac" she said "I came home and your friend-What was his name again..."

"Damien" I mumbled.

A light bulb flicked in her head "That's it, said you weren't feeling well and became delirious"

Oh well that's a nicer way to put it. I would have thought he would have yelled 'Your daughter is fucked up in the head Miss Stone' or something like that.

"So I've booked you can appointment, you'll miss morning lessons at school" she said.

Last time she offered to take me to Dr Mac, I threw a temper tantrum and told her I wouldn't go but right now I felt like I needed it "Okay" I breathed.

"So tell me again what happened last night"

I've probably repeated myself about three times to the woman sat in front of me, she needed to 'clarify' that I can remember what actually happened. I slumped further down in my seat and slurred my words "I went to meet a friend to do homework, I came back and there was someone in the house. They attacked me and I have the scratch marks to prove it, I locked myself in my bathroom and called the same friend I met. By the time he came, the intruder had already left. Nothing was taken, he stayed with me until my mom came back"

Dr Mac hmmed and scratched her chin "And according to your statement your bedroom door was broken down, a vase was broken and there were foot prints in the foyer?"

Now she's just making me sound stupid. I nodded.

"But this morning you door was fine, the only footsteps in the foyer were you own and the vase was still perfectly okay, how do you explain that?"

"Look, with all due respect" I mean no respect at all, I hated this woman "I know what I saw. He broke my door down, It was-"

"It was a hallucination" she cut me off, her voice suddenly turning bitter and cold and her blue eyes turning darker."Miss Stone, I'm afraid your daughter has reached a stage we wished to prevent, she is mentally Unsta-"

"Can I go back to school" I said, cutting Dr Mac off like she did me. My mother gave me an irritated look and asked Dr Mac for the blue pills. Reluctantly, she reached to the cupboard and pulled two vile's of blue pills and handed them to me, my mother took them and put them in her bag.

"Please make sure she takes one three times a day, it will stop the hallucinations and stabilize her"

"Thank you Dr Mac, say thank you Lara"

I plasterd on a bitter smile in attempt to be nice "Thank you Dr Mac"

"Anytime, bye"

Without a word Mom and I exited the hospital and went into the car, the car was silent and I actually liked it. I kept thinking back to Dr Mac's words she was about to officially tell me I was mentally unstable and that was something that I never wanted myself to be branded with, by the time my thinking was done we'd reached the school gates and I was just about to leave the car when my mother stopped me.

"I just want what's best for you sweetheart" she said in a sad tone.

I hated snapping at my mother but I was angry "Branding me with the title 'Mentally unstable' doesn't help with anything. I'm going to be late to class, I'll see you at home" I said and slammed the door.
