Murthy's House

“So tell me, Papa, and everyone, what are your thoughts on it?” Nandini asks after sharing the topic of co-parenting with Manik.

“Bunny, I think you—” Nandini cuts him off.

“Shut up, Arnav. Don’t give me your stupid suggestions,” she says, shrugging her shoulders.

Arnav makes a “haw” face and is about to say something, but Khushi interrupts him with a glare. “Shut up, Nav. Not a single word.”

Turning towards Nandini, she continues, “Nandini, I think you should go for it. It has two benefits: first, Mannat will have a father, and second, you will have a partner.”

“What? Where does this partner thing come from, Khushi?” Nandini exclaims, and everyone looks at her in confusion.

“Arey, I’m saying if Manik Bhai becomes Mannat’s father, then he can’t marry anyone else because no girl will accept Mannat calling her husband ‘Papa.’ So, indirectly, your future will be secured. When you want to marry Manik Bhai, he will be available for you.” Khushi explains after seeing everyone's confused faces, the smile noticing the realization dawning on everyone’s faces.

Even Nandini feels relieved hearing Khushi’s words, as she can never imagine anyone else with Manik. After he becomes Mannat’s father, she will feel at ease. So, she is on board with it.

But still, she asks, “Papa, Mama, what are your thoughts on it? If you guys…”

Raman cuts her off, saying, “Whatever you like, Nandu, we agree with it. See, it’s your life and your happiness. We just want you to be happy. If you’re happy with the co-parenting idea, then we are even happier than you. Okay, so tell me what you want.”

“I’m okay with it, Papa, as long as Mannat is happy. But still, I want Mama’s opinion. Mama, tell me?” Nandini says, looking at Ishita.

Ishita first looks at Raman and then at Nandini. She fakes a smile and says, “Even I want your happiness, Nandu. Do whatever you want.”

“Are you sure, Mama?” Nandini asks, noticing Ishita’s forced smile.

“Yes, she is sure, Nandu. Go for it,” Raman reassures her.

Nandini nods half-heartedly and asks Arnav, “What’s your opinion, Arnie?”

“No, I don’t want to say anything,” he replies grumpily.

Nandini and everyone else looked at him and chuckled, she asked again, “Arey, tell me, na?”

“No, I give stupid suggestions, so why are you asking me?” he says, turning his face away.

Nandini smiles and approaches him. “Arey, no yaar, your suggestions are the most important and final ones, so I want to hear them last. So now tell me.”

“Okay, so listen,” Arnav excitedly turns towards her and is about to speak when Mannat shouts, “Mama, come here!”

Nandini looks at her and smiles, while Arnav sulks, “Bunny, my suggestion…”

“Arnav, wait! First, let me see Manu, then I will listen to you,” she says, getting up to go to Mannat, who comes running to her with a trophy and gifts.

Arnav looks at her in shock and says, “Now I will never talk to Bunny, I promise.” He sits with a grumpy face. Khushi laughs and pulls his cheeks. “Aww, my baby got hurt.” He angrily shoves her hand away and says, “I am not talking to you, penguin.”

“Okay, no problem,” Khushi shrugs her shoulders and shifts to the other side.

While Arnav looks at her in disbelief and shouts, “At least you could have persuaded me one more time.”
