"One never forgets the taste of certain tears"
-- Fyodor Dostoevsky

Present--Vahni POV:
As the teasing continues, I start to feel a little self-conscious, but Vanya and Vyara's playful jokes help to put me at ease. We chat and laugh together, enjoying each other's company as the Mehndi artist works her magic.
After a while, the Mehndi artist finishes Vanya's hands and starts working on mine. Vanya and Vyara continue to chat and tease me, making the experience more enjoyable.
As I sit there, I notice Vihaan watching me from across the room. He's standing with his family, smiling and chatting with them, but his eyes keep drifting back to me. I feel a flutter in my chest as our eyes meet, and I quickly look away, trying to compose myself.
Vanya notices my reaction and raises an eyebrow. "Someone's got a crush on my brother" she teases, nudging me with her elbow.
I feel my face heat up as I try to play it cool. "Shut up, Vanya," I say, laughing and trying to change the subject.
But Vanya just winks at me and continues to tease me.
Just then, Vihaan's mom calls out from across the room, "Vanya, beta, come and show me your Mehndi." Vanya gets up, and Vyara follows her, leaving me alone for a moment.
As I sit there, I feel Vihaan's eyes on me again. I try to ignore it, but I can sense him walking towards me. My heart starts racing as he sits down beside me.
"Hey," he says softly, his voice sending shivers down my spine.
I turn to him, trying to play it cool. "Hey," I reply, smiling weakly.
Vihaan looks at me intently, his eyes searching mine. I feel like he can see right through me, like he knows exactly how I'm feeling.
The Mehndi artist breaks the silence, "Okay, done!" she exclaims, holding up my hands to show off the intricate designs.
Vihaan smiles, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Beautiful," he says, his voice low and husky.
I feel my face heat up as I look at him, my heart racing with excitement.
Vihaan turns to the Mehndi artist and says, "Can you just draw a simple design on my hand?"
The Mehndi artist looks at him curiously, "What kind of design would you like, sir?"
Vihaan thinks for a moment before responding, "Just a small heart with a 'V' inside it."
I feel my heart skip a beat as I look at him, wondering why he chose that specific design. The Mehndi artist nods and gets to work, expertly drawing the design on Vihaan's hand.
As I watch, I feel a sense of excitement and nervousness. What does the 'V' stand for? Is it just a coincidence, or is there something more to it?
As the afternoon wears on, I start to feel a rumble in my stomach. I look around, hoping to find someone to grab a snack with, but everyone is busy. Some of the guests are still getting their Mehndi done, while others are chatting and laughing with each other.
I try to wait it out, but my hunger pangs only get stronger. I look around again, hoping to find someone to ask for food, but Vihaan is the only one who notices me.
He walks over to me, a concerned expression on his face. "Hey, are you okay? You look a little hungry," he says, his voice low and gentle.
I nod, feeling a little embarrassed. "Yeah, I'm just a little hungry. But everyone's busy, and I don't want to disturb them."
Vihaan smiles and takes my hand. "Don't worry, I'll take care of you," he says, leading me to the food table.
As we walk, I notice that everyone is indeed busy. Some of the guests are still getting their Mehndi done, while others are chatting and laughing with each other. Vihaan's family is busy making sure everything runs smoothly, and Vanya and Vyara are busy taking photos with their friends.
We reach the food table, and Vihaan starts loading up a plate with all my favorite snacks. I try to protest, but he just smiles and says, "Don't worry, I've got this."
As he feeds me, I feel a sense of comfort and happiness wash over me. It's a simple act, but it feels intimate and special. I look up at Vihaan, and our eyes meet. For a moment, we just stare at each other, the tension between us palpable.
Then, Vihaan breaks the spell, smiling and saying, "More?" as he offers me another snack. I nod, feeling a little shy, and he feeds me again, our eyes locked on each other's.
Just as Vihaan is about to feed me another snack, Vishaal, Vyara, and Vanya walk up to us, big grins on their faces.
"Ah-ah, what's going on here?" Vanya teases, raising an eyebrow.
Vyara chimes in, "Yeah, Vihaan, we didn't know you were going to start feeding Vahni already!"
Vishaal joins in, "Yeah, save some for after the wedding, dude!"
I feel my face heat up as I look at Vihaan, who's smiling good-naturedly at our families.
Vihaan shrugs, "Hey, someone's got to take care of her. She's clearly too hungry to take care of herself!"
I playfully roll my eyes, "Hey, that's not fair! I was just waiting for someone to notice me!"
They laugh and tease us some more, but eventually, they move on, leaving Vihaan and me alone again.
As we're left alone, Vihaan turns to me and smiles, "You know, I think I'm going to enjoy taking care of you."
