The ride to Chaeyoung and I's house felt agonizingly slow, each second a painful reminder of the clock ticking against Jennie's life. I sat there, my hands trembling, my mind replaying the doctor's words

"Without the transfusion, Jennie and the baby may not survive."

The weight of those words suffocated me, pushing me deeper into guilt and fear. By the time my car pulled up to my house, I could barely breathe.

I stood on the porch for what felt like an eternity, my fist hovering over the door. What right did I have to ask her for anything? To beg the woman I betrayed to save the one I betrayed her with? But this wasn't just about Jennie. It was about our child—innocent, blameless, and entirely dependent on me to fight for them.

I knocked softly at first, then harder when there was no answer. Finally, the door opened, and there she was—Chaeyoung. Her face was unreadable, her eyes scanning me with cold detachment. I'd prepared a thousand things to say, but they all died in my throat the moment her gaze pierced mine. I remembered what happened before the incident, on how she pushed Jennie which made this chaos but I couldn't blame her, she has all the reasons. I am not a narcissist asshole. I may have shouted and hurt her with my words but that's all because I was worried.

I really do care about  Chaeyoung. She's my wife after all. I spent years with her. Although we didn't really have a good ending but I hope we could still be okay together.

"What do you want?" she asked, her voice sharp and devoid of warmth.

"Chae, please," I whispered, my voice cracking under the weight of my desperation. "I need your help. Jennie needs your help."

At the mention of Jennie's name, her jaw clenched, and I saw a flicker of something dark in her eyes. "You have some nerve," she said, crossing her arms. "You think you can just show up here and—"

"Please," I interrupted, dropping to my knees right there on her doorstep. "She's going to die, Chaeyoung. The baby... our baby... they need your blood. You're the only one with the same type. If we don't do the transfusion within 24 hours..." My voice cracked, and tears spilled freely down my face. "Please, Chae. I'm begging you."

Chaeyoung stared at me, her expression unreadable. She didn't move, didn't speak. Her silence was more cutting than any words could have been. There was a flicker of worry and guilt in her eyes, but it was gone after a blink.

"Do you even hear yourself?" she finally said, her voice icy. "You're here, begging me to save her—the woman who destroyed my life? The woman who's carrying the child that broke my marriage?"

I flinched at her words, each one landing like a physical blow. "I know I don't deserve your forgiveness," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "I know I've hurt you, and I'll regret it for the rest of my life. But this isn't about me. It's about an innocent baby—"

"Innocent?" Chaeyoung spat, stepping closer. "Don't you dare talk to me about innocence. You didn't care about innocence when you were sneaking around behind my back. You didn't care when you lied to my face, day after day. And now you want me to care?"

Her words sliced through me, leaving me raw and exposed. I nodded, tears streaming down my face. "You're right. I don't deserve this. But they don't deserve to die because of my mistakes. Please, Chaeyoung... if there's even a shred of love left in your heart for me, I'm begging you. Save them."

Chaeyoung laughed bitterly, the sound hollow and cruel. "Love?" she repeated. "You want me to love you now, after everything? Do you even know what you're asking of me, Lisa? You're asking me to save the woman who took you from me. You're asking me to save your child, a constant reminder of your betrayal. How can you be so cruel?"
