Jennie's POV
My legs felt weak, my entire body trembling as I stood in the suffocating silence Lisa and I were left in. I turned toward her, my chest tightening with dread. She hadn't moved since Jisoo left, standing there frozen, her eyes glued to the floor, her hands clenching and unclenching at her sides.
"Lisa..." I managed to whisper, my voice breaking.
Her head snapped up, her expression unreadable, but the pain in her eyes was unmistakable. "Jisoo's right," she said, her voice low and raw.
I froze, my heart plummeting into my stomach. The air around us felt heavier, suffocating. "No," I said, shaking my head, my voice rising in desperation. "Lisa, no. Don't say that. Please."
She didn't reply. Instead, she turned toward the living room, grabbing her jacket from the back of the couch, then her bag from the armchair.
"Lisa, wait—what are you doing?" I stepped forward, my voice trembling.
She avoided my eyes as she threw her bag over her shoulder. "I need to go. I can't... This can't keep happening, Jennie."
"Can't keep happening?" My voice cracked, and I grabbed her arm, holding on as tightly as I could. "You're leaving? Just like that?"
Her silence was worse than any response she could have given me.
Panic surged through me, stronger than anything I'd ever felt before. I couldn't let her leave. Not like this. If she walked out that door, I knew she wouldn't come back.
"Lisa, please don't go," I begged, my grip on her arm tightening. "I'll fix this. I'll talk to Jisoo. She'll listen to me—she has to. I can make this right, I promise."
Still, she said nothing, her shoulders slumping as if the weight of the world was pressing down on her.
Desperation clawed at me, making my chest ache. "If it's about the scandal, I'll make it go away. I have money, lands, properties—I'll give you everything I have if that's what it takes. Just don't leave me. Please."
Her head snapped toward me, her eyes wide with shock and something else—something that made me feel even smaller. She stared at me, frozen, as I fell to my knees before her.
The woman I had always prided myself on being—strong, confident, untouchable—was gone. All that was left was someone broken, someone desperate.
Her expression twisted, pain written all over her face. "Jennie, don't," she said softly, crouching down and taking my hands in hers. "Please, don't do this."
I looked up at her, tears streaming down my face. "You don't understand," I choked out. "I can't lose you. I've already lost so much, Lisa. You're all I have left."
Her hands tightened around mine, and she pulled me to my feet. "Jennie," she whispered, her voice trembling. "I love you."
My breath hitched. For a moment, I thought I had imagined it. "W-what?"
Her eyes met mine, and the raw emotion in them made my heart ache. "I love you," she repeated. "I've been trying to fight it, trying to pretend it's not true because it's wrong. But being with you—it's the only time I feel alive. The only time I feel happy. I don't know what to do anymore."
A sob escaped me, and I buried my face in her chest, clutching her as if she might disappear.
She held me tightly, her hands running through my hair as if trying to soothe the storm raging inside me. "I need to fix this, Jennie," she said after a moment, her voice steady but soft. "I need to fix everything with Chaeyoung first. She deserves that. But I promise, I'll come back to you."
