"Whenever I see you, I remember there's no accidental meeting between souls"

Present--Vahni POV:
As we sit down to eat, I realize that the seating arrangement has put me in a rather awkward position. Vyara is on my left, chatting animatedly with Vishaal, and Vihaan is on my right, his eyes fixed on me with an intensity that makes my skin prickle.
I try to focus on the food in front of me, but I can feel Vihaan's gaze on me, making me feel like I'm under a microscope. I shift uncomfortably in my seat, trying to create some distance between us, but it's no use. We're packed in tightly around the table, and I'm stuck with Vihaan's arm brushing against mine.
As we start eating, Vyara turns to me and starts chatting about her latest shopping trip. I try to focus on the conversation, but I can feel Vihaan's eyes on me, making me feel like I'm being watched.
I try to subtly shift away from him, but it's no use. Our arms keep touching, sending sparks of electricity through my body. I try to ignore it, but it's getting harder and harder.
Vyara notices my distraction and follows my gaze to Vihaan. She raises an eyebrow, a knowing glint in her eye. "Everything okay, Vahni?" she asks, her voice low.
I nod quickly, trying to brush it off. "Yeah, everything's fine," I say, forcing a smile onto my face.
But Vyara's not buying it. She knows me too well. She shoots me a skeptical look, but says nothing, turning back to her conversation with Vishaal.
I let out a silent sigh of relief, grateful that the attention has been diverted. But as I glance to my right, I catch Vihaan's eye, and I know that I'm not off the hook that easily.
Auntie Miyori, who's been quietly observing the conversation, turns to me with a warm smile. "Vahni, beta, how's work been? When do you go back?"
I take a sip of my drink before responding. "Actually, Auntie, I've taken a two-month break. Vishaal asked me to, and I thought it would be a good opportunity to recharge."
Auntie Miyori's eyes light up with excitement. "Oh, that's wonderful! You young people need a break from time to time. Speaking of which, I think it's time for you all to take a small trip together. Just a weekend getaway, maybe to the mountains or the beach."
Vyara's eyes sparkle with enthusiasm. "That sounds like so much fun, Mum! Can we plan it for next week?"
I feel a pang of anxiety at the thought of spending more time with Vihaan, but I try to brush it off. Maybe it'll be good for me to get out of the city and clear my head.
Vishaal, who's been quietly observing the conversation, chimes in. "I think we should go to the mountains. The weather's perfect this time of year."
Vanya nods in agreement. "Yes, and we can go trekking and hiking. It'll be a great way to get some exercise and fresh air."
Vyara's eyes light up. "Ooh, that sounds like so much fun! I've always wanted to go trekking."
Vihaan, who's been quietly listening to the conversation, speaks up. "I'm in. Where did you have in mind, Vishaal?"
Vishaal thinks for a moment. "How about we go to Shimla? It's not too far from here, and the scenery's beautiful this time of year."
Vanya nods. "That sounds perfect. We can rent a cottage and spend a few days hiking and exploring."
As the conversation continues, Vihaan occasionally chimes in with a suggestion or a question. I try to ignore him, but it's hard to do when he's sitting right next to me.
As we continue discussing the details of our trip, Vihaan reaches for the plate of snacks in front of us. As he does, his hand brushes against mine, sending a spark of electricity through my body.
I quickly pull my hand back, trying to play it cool. But Vihaan's eyes flicker to mine, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. I feel a flush rise to my cheeks as I look away, trying to focus on the conversation.
As Vyara continues to chat excitedly about our trip, Vihaan's hand suddenly appears on my thigh, his fingers wrapping gently around my leg. I feel a jolt of electricity run through my body as he leans in close, his breath whispering against my ear.
"Relax, I am not going to eat you... at least till you don't want me to," he whispers, his voice low and husky.
I feel a shiver run down my spine as his words send a flutter through my chest. I try to push his hand away, but he holds firm, his fingers digging gently into my skin.
"Vihaan," I whisper, trying to keep my voice down. "What are you doing?"
I try to subtly shift my leg away from Vihaan's grasp, but he holds firm, his fingers tracing gentle patterns on my skin. His touch sends shivers down my spine, and I feel my heart racing in my chest.
"Vihaan," I whisper again, trying to keep my voice down. "Please remove your hand before I make a scene in front of others"
Vihaan's eyes flicker to mine, a hint of amusement dancing in their depths. He leans in closer, his breath whispering against my ear.
"I'm just trying to help you relax," he whispers, his voice low and husky. "You're so tense."
As he speaks, his fingers continue to trace patterns on my skin, sending waves of sensation through my body. I feel myself getting lost in the touch, my senses heightened as I try to process what's happening.
Vyara, oblivious to the tension between us, continues to chat excitedly about our trip. "And we have to try the local cuisine! I've heard the momos in Shimla are amazing."
Vishaal nods in agreement. "Definitely. We'll make sure to try all the local specialties."
As they continue to talk, Vihaan's hand remains on my thigh, his fingers gently stroking my skin. I try to focus on the conversation, but it's hard to do when my senses are on high alert.
I glance at Vihaan, trying to convey a message without saying a word again. He looks back at me, his eyes sparkling with amusement, and I know he's enjoying the fact that he's got me so flustered.
Vihaan's eyes never leave mine as he whispers, "Does Nevaan have this effect on you, Vahni?"
I feel a flutter in my chest as I try to process the question. "Who?" I ask genuinely
Vihaan's lips curve into a sly smile. "Don't play games with me, Vahni," he whispers. "I know exactly what I'm talking about."
I feel a rush of memories, and suddenly, I remember my fake boyfriend. "Nevaan?" I repeat, trying to sound casual. "Oh, yes. Obviously."
Vihaan's eyes sparkle with amusement. "Obviously?" he repeats, his voice low and husky.
I feel a flush rise to my cheeks as I realize what I've just said. "I mean... it's just different, okay?" I whisper, trying to cover.
Vihaan's smile widens. "Different?" he repeats. "How?"
I take a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart. "It's just... more enjoyable when it's mutual," I whisper, my eyes locked on his.
As we finish our lunch, Vyara glances at her watch. "Oh, look at the time! We should get going soon."
I nod in agreement, pushing my chair back to stand up. But before I do, I lean in close to Vihaan, my voice low and clear.
"Don't touch me again," I whisper, my eyes locked on his. "I don't cheat on my boyfriend."
Vihaan's lips curve into a sly smile, and he chuckles low in his throat. "Oh, Vahni," he whispers, his eyes glinting with amusement. "You're so cute when you're trying to be stern."
I feel a flush rise to my cheeks as I realize he's not taking me seriously. I straighten up, trying to maintain my dignity as I turn to follow Vyara out of the house.
