Vahni POV:

Kriti and I walk into our apartment, dropping our bags on the floor. We head to the kitchen to heat up some dinner. As we eat, Kriti tells me about her plans for the night.

"Hey, Vini! Tonight's the night! I am going to surprise Rohan for his birthday," Kriti says, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

I smile, happy for my friend. "That sounds like so much fun! What's the plan?"

Kriti fills me in on the details, and I help her arrange everything for the surprise party. We spend the next hour decorating the car, making a playlist, and getting everything ready.

As Kriti finishes getting ready, she gives me a hug. "Thanks for your help, Vini! I owe you one."

I smile and wave goodbye as Kriti heads out the door.

The apartment is quiet once again, and I'm left to my own thoughts. I walk over to the couch and plop myself down, scrolling through my phone to pass the time.

As I scroll, my phone suddenly rings, breaking the silence. I glance at the screen and see my brother's name flashing.

"Hey, Vini! I heard from Vyara that you're not coming to the wedding," my brother says, his voice filled with concern.

I sigh, knowing I'm in for a lecture. "Hey, bhai. Yeah, I wasn't planning on coming."

"Why not, Vini? It's my wedding! I want you to be there," my brother says, trying to persuade me.

I hesitate, feeling a pang of guilt. My brother has no idea about my past with Vihaan, and I don't want to ruin his happiness.

"I...I don't know, bhai. I'll think about it," I say, trying to sound non-committal.

My brother senses my hesitation and presses on. "Vini, please come. It won't be the same without you. And Mum and Dad will be really disappointed if you don't show up."

I feel my resolve weakening, and my brother senses it. "So, you'll come?" he asks, his voice filled with hope.

I take a deep breath and nod, even though he can't see me. "Yes, bhai. I'll come."

My brother and I start discussing the wedding arrangements, and I'm surprised by how much has already been planned.

"So, the wedding is going to be a big affair, huh?" I ask, trying to sound enthusiastic.

"Yeah, it's going to be huge! We've rented out a big venue, and there will be lots of parties and celebrations leading up to the big day," my brother explains.

I nod, taking mental notes. "Okay, got it. And when is the wedding exactly?"

"The engagement is on Saturday, which is just six days from now," my brother says.

I gasp, feeling a surge of anxiety. "Six days? That's so soon!"

My brother laughs. "I know, I know. It's a bit last-minute, but we can make it work. And I really want you to be there for the whole thing, Vini."

I hesitate, feeling unsure. "I don't know, bhai. I'm not sure if I can take that much time off work."

But my brother is persistent. "Come on, Vini. It's my wedding! And it's not just one day. We've got parties and celebrations planned for the next two months. It'll be fun, I promise."

I'm taken aback by the two-month timeline. "Two months? That's a long time."

My brother nods. "I know, but trust me, it'll be worth it. And everyone would love to have you home for that long. It's been too long since you've visited."

I feel a pang of guilt, knowing that my brother is right. It has been too long since I've visited home. And maybe, just maybe, this is an opportunity for me to face my past and move on.

I end the call with my brother, feeling a mix of emotions. I'm excited to see my family and celebrate my brother's wedding, but I'm also nervous about facing my past.

I take a deep breath and dial Vyara's number. She answers on the first ring.

"Hey, sis! I just got off the phone with bhai. He told me you're not coming to the wedding," Vyara says, her voice teasing.

I laugh. "Actually, I just changed my mind. I'm coming to the wedding."

Vyara squeals with excitement. "Yay! I'm so glad you're coming! We're going to have so much fun."

We spend the next hour discussing the wedding details, from the dress code to the dance performances. Vyara tells me about the traditional outfits we'll wear, and the songs we'll dance to.

As we talk, I start to feel more excited about the wedding. I realize that this is an opportunity for me to reconnect with my family and create new memories.

"Vyara, what's the plan for the sangeet? Are we performing a dance?" I ask, feeling a surge of enthusiasm.

"Yes, we are! We're doing a traditional dance. I've already started practicing," Vyara says.

I laugh. "I'm sure you're going to be amazing. I'll have to practice too."

We chat for a bit longer, making plans and discussing the wedding details. As we talk, I feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. I know that this wedding is going to be a special time for our family, and I'm glad I get to be a part of it.

I end the call with Vyara, feeling more excited about the wedding. I start searching for last-minute flights to attend the engagement ceremony on Saturday. After scrolling through various flight booking websites, I finally find one available flight on Saturday.

I quickly book the flight, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. Now that I have my travel arrangements sorted, I start thinking about what to wear to the engagement ceremony.

I open my laptop and start browsing online shopping websites. After scrolling through various options, I finally find a beautiful lehenga that I think would be perfect for the occasion. I quickly make the purchase, feeling excited to wear it on Saturday.

With my travel and outfit sorted, I start to feel more prepared for the wedding celebrations. I take a deep breath, feeling a sense of calm wash over me. I'm ready to face whatever comes next.
