Vahni POV:

Next morning, I wake up and groan. The headache is unbearable. Last night was a disaster, but a good disaster. We had so much fun, dancing and drinking till 3 am. I glance over at Kriti, who's sprawled out in my bed, fast asleep. She was out like a light, and I had to drag her home. I slowly get out of bed and stumble to the kitchen to make some lukewarm water for myself...

As I drink the lukewarm water, I start to feel a bit better. I head to the bathroom to get ready for my hospital duties. I brush my teeth, wash my face, and tie my hair up in a ponytail.

Just as I'm finishing up, I hear a groggy voice from the bedroom. "Vini... water..." Kriti's voice is barely audible.

I chuckle and head back to the bedroom with a glass of water. Kriti's sitting up in bed, looking like she's been hit by a truck. Her hair's a mess, and her eyes are bloodshot.

I hand her the glass of water, and she takes a few sips before handing it back to me. "Thanks," she says, her voice still croaky.

I laugh and sit down beside her. "How's your head?" I ask, knowing that she must be feeling just as bad as I am.

Kriti rubs her temples. "It's killing me. What time did we get home?"

I think back. "I think it was around 3:30 am."

Kriti groans. "No wonder I feel like I've been run over."

I laugh and get up from the bed. "Well, you'd better get moving. We've both got work today."

Kriti groans again, but slowly starts to get out of bed. "Do I have to?" she asks, stumbling towards the bathroom.

I chuckle and head to the kitchen to make some coffee. As I wait for the coffee to brew, I check my phone and see that I've got a few messages from Mum. I sigh, knowing that I'll have to deal with her soon.

Kriti emerges from the bathroom, looking a bit more alive. "Coffee?" she asks, spotting the pot on the counter.

I nod, and we both sit down at the table to drink our coffee and try to wake ourselves up. As we sit there, I start to feel a bit more human, and I realize that maybe last night wasn't that bad after all.

I finish my coffee, and Kriti and I head out to the car. We drive to the hospital, chatting about our plans for the day. When we arrive, I head to the doctors' lounge to change into my scrubs.

As I'm changing, I run into some of my colleagues. "Hey, Vini! How's it going?" asks Dr. Rohan, a fellow resident.

I smile and greet him, along with Dr. Nalini and Dr. Arav, who are also part of our team. We chat for a bit about our patients and the day's schedule.

Dr. Nalini mentions that we've got a new patient coming in today, a young woman with a complex medical condition. "We'll need to run some tests and figure out the best course of treatment," she says.

I nod, taking mental note of the new patient. I head to the nurses' station to review the day's schedule and prepare for my rounds.

After two hours I'm exhausted. I head to the hospital cafeteria to grab some lunch and take a break. As I sit down at a table, I pull out my phone and see that I've got several missed calls from my sister, Vyara.

I smile, feeling a pang of guilt for not being in touch with her more often. I quickly call her back, and she answers on the first ring.

"Hey, sis! How are you?" Vyara asks, her voice bubbly and energetic.

"I'm good, Vyara. Just having a crazy day at the hospital. What about you? What's new?" I reply.

"Mum told me you're not coming home for the wedding," Vyara says, her tone turning slightly serious.

"That's right," I say, bracing myself for the lecture that's sure to follow.

"Vini, why not? It's our brother's wedding! You have to be there," Vyara says, trying to persuade me.

"I know, Vyara, but I just can't. You know why," I say, trying to keep my tone firm but polite.

"But Vini, it's been years! You can't keep avoiding Vihaan forever," Vyara says, trying to reason with me.

"I'm not avoiding him, Vyara. I just don't want to go back to that place. Too many bad memories," I say, feeling a pang of sadness.

"Vini, please reconsider. It would mean so much to Mum and Dad if you were there. And to me, too," Vyara says.

"I'm sorry, Vyara, but I will think about it" I say.

Vyara sighs, and I can tell she's disappointed. "Okay, Vini. I understand. But can I ask you one thing?" she says.

"Sure, what is it?" I reply.

"Do you ever think about forgiving Vihaan?" Vyara asks.

"I...I don't know, Vyara. I'll have to think about it," I say.

"But Vini, I think he won't even attend the wedding," Vyara says.

"What do you mean by 'you think'? It's our family wedding, obviously he won't be there!" I say, laughing.

We chat for a bit longer, before saying our goodbyes.

After my conversation with Vyara, I head back to work, feeling a bit drained. The rest of the day passes in a blur of meetings, rounds, and paperwork. I'm exhausted by the time my shift ends.

As I'm changing out of my scrubs, Kriti comes into the locker room, looking just as tired as I am. "Hey, girl! Ready to head home?" she asks.

I nod, smiling. "Definitely. I'm starving. Let's grab dinner on the way home."

Kriti grins. "Chinese food sounds amazing right about now."

We head out of the hospital, grabbing our bags and walking to the car. As we drive, we chat about our day, sharing stories and laughing together.

We stop at a Chinese restaurant on the way home, ordering a bunch of our favorite dishes. As we wait for our food, we sit in the car, enjoying the quiet and each other's company.

Finally, our food is ready, and we head home, eager to devour our dinner and collapse onto the couch.
