CHAPTER 20: FACE LIKE HEAVEN, BODY LIKE SIN

HAVEN'S POV

I was jolted awake when I heard a soft conversation but I was thankful that I woke up. It's a good thing since the last thing I remember was Allessio carrying me back to the house and straight to his bathroom so we could warm up in his jetted tub. It's not ideal to sleep in a bathtub, though I doubt Allessio would let me drown.

I lifted my head from its resting place on the broad chest of the man, but instead of feeling the water surrounding me, I felt a warm blanket wrapped around me.

A hand pulled the blanket back over me when it slipped down my bare back. I struggled to open my heavy eyelids, and Allessio's face was the first thing I saw. That's when I realized that we were no longer in the bathtub and we were now in the bed.

He wasn't looking at me and his lips were moving rapidly, speaking his native language, which of course I couldn't understand. I followed the direction of his gaze and felt my sleepiness fade when I saw Fierro and Lorenzo standing near the door.

The latter was the first to notice that I'm already awake. Lorenzo only glanced at me for a second, as if more than that would result in him losing his vision, and then he turned to Allessio and said something in Italian.

Allessio shifted to English. "I want them all here. Including Leandra."

It was something I noticed from Allessio. When I'm around, it's rare for him to speak in Italian, as if he wanted to make sure that I don't feel excluded even if what they're talking about doesn't concern me. But I also like when he speaks in Italian to me. Especially the naughty ones.

Lorenzo replied in their language, and he quickly exited the room when Allessio tipped his chin up as if to tell them that the conversation was over. Fierro, however, stayed.

"Do you want me to have you drag out of this room, Mancini?"

Ignoring him, Fierro glanced at me. Although he wasn't really looking at me. Instead, his eyes are focused above my head.

"What's your favorite color, Haven?"

I was taken aback for a moment by his random question. "Umm... any shade of purple."

"What's your favorite flower?"

"Lavender." When his eyebrow went up, I explained, "I like the color, and it smells nice."

"If you're going to choose between a garden, forest, beach, or church wedding—"

"Out," Allessio said, cutting him off.

He shot Fierro a dirty look, who walked out of the door laughing. When Allessio and I were left alone in the room, I gave him a questioning look, causing him to let out a sigh. "Fierro likes to give me grief about getting married."
