ISABELLA MATTIA✥
I wasn't actually intending on throwing myself out of the car. I wanted to get Elio's attention and it worked. He fed right into my plan. Some might think I'm stupid enough to fling myself from a moving car when I don't get my way but actually I'm smarter. I grasp their attention when they least expect it.
Works like a charm.
Although now Elio has been watching me like a hawk. The rest of the journey was in complete silence, he even turned the radio off which I presume was so he could focus on me and any brash decisions I make.
Once we step foot on campus, there is a small smile breeding on my lips. It's a fresh start for all first years and that makes me seem somewhat calmer. I glance around at the car park, people arriving with their friends, family. Ready to start a life of their own and find their own freedom.
The guards help with my bags as we make our way towards the place that I'll be staying. Elio walks close behind me but I choose to ignore him and every strange look I get. Of course they are going to be glancing at me funny. I've got five men dressed down in black suits and stern faces tailing behind me with all my belongings.
As soon as I grab my keys and head towards my accommodation, Elio takes the keys from my hands without a word and steps inside. He gives it a quick sweep and I keep my eye rolling to myself.
I take two steps inside and glance around the small kitchen and living space. I didn't forget that Elio will be living with me. I guess it's better than living amongst others because that will definitely attract unwanted attention from people who are curious about him and why he's here.
When I turn around to face the guards, Elio stands tall in the middle already examining me. His height makes this house look like a kids playhouse. I glance at the top of his head and he's not far off the ceiling.
I shudder subtly. He makes this place feel small with his intimidating height and now I have to spend the next few years living with him? Someone pray for me.
"Do you need help unpacking, Miss Mattia?" One of the guards asks as they stand with their hands behind their backs.
My head shakes. "No. I'm good."
He then turns to Elio and nods once before they leave me and the ridiculous giant alone. I turn my back on him and walk over to one of the bedrooms. In the middle is a double bed with a plain desk and a wardrobe. My feet carry me to the window as I look outside at the scenery of tall trees and pretty flowers. This campus is truly stunning.
I draw my phone from my pocket and take a quick picture of myself before sending it to my parents in a group chat that my mother made to keep everyone in the loop.
Isabella: I made it in one piece. (Almost)
Mum: Glad to hear it, darling. I hope you love it there. Text us later with what you've been up to.
Dad: Almost? What do you mean by that? Did something happen?
Dad: Get Elio to call me ASAP.
My eyes roll but I can't keep the smile off my face.
Isabella: It's a joke, dad.
Dad: I don't like jokes
Isabella: Because you're boring. Anyway, I'm going now. I've got a life to live.
Mum: I love you, Belle. Stay safe.
