Cora and Rosie are outside the chateau and playing. They ignore the sounds of thunder and dark clouds, not letting it bother them too much. John B had prepped the house for the hurricane earlier, Rosie helping how she could.
The two are currently drawing on the dock with chalk.
"Hey!" They look over at JJ's yell as he walks out of the house. "Get your little butts inside."
"We always play in thunderstorms." Cora pouts as her brother makes his way to the dock.
"Yeah, thunderstorms, not hurricanes." JJ says, rolling his eyes. "Inside, midgets."
"It's not even raining yet." Rosie rolls her eyes.
"Okay, well, you're not gonna have time to run inside when the wind gets even stronger and blows your little bodies into outer space. I'm surprised you haven't been knocked over yet." JJ says.
"I don't think that's how it works." Rosie frowns.
"And how would you know?" JJ questions.
"Cause you can't just go into space like that. I mean, we could get blown to a different town or something, I guess. Or into the water." Rosie shrugs.
"Okay." JJ rolls his eyes. "You-- whatever. Inside."
"Lemme finish my drawing." Cora says, continuing to draw her sunflower. Lightning strikes and thunder booms as rain starts pouring down. "Nooo." She whines.
"Drawing's gone. Come on." JJ says.
"But--"
"No." JJ cuts the little Routledge off. He wraps his arms around both girls' waists and hoists them up, carrying them like they're nothing. Cora grips onto JJ's shorts, hoping he doesn't drop her.
"JJ!" Rosie complains.
"Rosie, if you get swooped away by a hurricane, John B's gonna kill me." JJ says. He manages to get inside, tossing both girls onto the couch, making them laugh. "Here." He hands them the bowls of Kraft macaroni and cheese. Cora grins while Rosie grimaces. "What? You hate mac and cheese now?"
"Kinda." Rosie shrugs.
"Well, you don't have anything else. So, eat." JJ tells her, grabbing two root beers out of the fridge. "Here." He opens the cans for them and gives them the drinks.
"Where's JB?" Rosie asks.
"I dunno." JJ shrugs.
"You should. You're his best friend." Rosie frowns.
"You're his sister. You should know." JJ retorts.
"I'm 6. Nobody tells me anything." Rosie pouts.
"Guess you should be older." JJ shrugs. Rosie glares at him. "What movie do you two want? You know, while we have power?"
"Wreck-It Ralph." Cora answers.
"Paddington." Rosie says.
"We'll flip a coin." JJ says, finding a quarter. "Uh, tails for Paddington. You know, since bears have tails."
JJ flips the coin.
"Heads." He grabs the coin and holds it up. Cora grins while Rosie groans. "Maybe we'll have time for both."
"Yeah, right." Rosie mumbles.
JJ gets the movie set up and starts it, only a few minutes passing until the door opens, the three turning to John B.
"Dude, where the hell were you? You left me to keep them alive?" JJ asks.
"Sorry. I, uh, I got caught up in the storm." John B says.
