Sabre
What in the hell is that thing?! My feet press against the hard concrete rooftops. The sky is a stormy black as the wind rushes through my bones. A shiver ran up my back as I leaped to the next building. Below me was a few feet drop into an alleyway below. The city was glowing with lights, but none could see me as I ran. The wind disoriented my sense of sound as cars and advertisements on glowing sides became nothing.
Even the deep growl of a monster behind.
Its large paws and claws scratched into the ground. It was running after me. I barely caught a glimpse of its pitch-black fur. There was no time to stop. Not even and my legs became numb. Not as my chest stretched out in pain with each breath I took. Not as my heart rushed blood into my body at a rate I didn't even believe possible. As I jumped from rooftop to rooftop. My only hope was to lose it. Somehow lost it in the growing darkness as we neared the end of town. The gaps between each building grow larger and larger. I jump once again to feel rain begin to rush down my skin.
The ground was slick with the forming puddles, water splitting up into my jeans. Wind rushes through uhh my clothes with the soaked rain sticking on my clothes. It even went through the fabric over my eyes. Making my vision blurry and scattered. I jump over another building.
Only to find the jump is too far for me to make.
The wind rushes down my chest as I fall. My hands reach a fire escape. Only for a painful snap to rush over my wrist. I screamed out in pain as I flipped onto my back. Only for my back to snap down against another railing.
My legs became numb.
I hit the ground with a loud thud. Feeling my head split open. I tried moving my legs, but. They wouldn't. They just can't move. I cried out for help in the empty streets. The dark empty alleyway. Rain splatting over the ground my dying body.
Its nails scratch on concrete as the massive monster follows me down. A deep drown fills the rain-paltering air. It slowly steps forward to me. This large wolf. Black fur on its end. This wolf... is as big as a polar bear. Black saliva dripped down its white fangs. I could feel the life fading from my body as blood bleeds out of my head.
My vision blurs as the beast stands overtop my body. Breathing was getting hard. I could feel it all disappear. The cold of my body. The presence of the world fading. Words slipped out of my mouth as I took in my last breath.
"Coordinates Locked...." I was taken away to a black void before the monster could sink its fangs into my head.
. . .
I felt numb all over when I woke up. Laying on the ground under a mat. My legs were still numb from the dream. Well... memory. I knew I was still in the Rainbow Kingdom. Even with that comfort, my heart was still pounding. I still feel like my legs are numb from my shattered back. Only once I forged movements in my hands was I able to pull myself up. My legs moved just enough to remind me that I was not paralyzed anymore.
Around me all the leaders, Light, Time, and Elemental were asleep. Elemental was snoring quite loudly. It was pitch black here now. Expect the glow of the lava from Elemental's arms. Everyone was sleeping peacefully. I smiled a little. This night was a success. Hopefully, this helps everyone feel more connected in these hard times.
I got up and nearly stumbled over Comet's book. I was translating it and fell asleep doing so... Last thing I remember reading was her recalling what happened to her when the Green Steve Village had that terrible storm. I'll need to finish it up later. I closed the books quietly before stepping out of the room.
