Licking my pink icecream out of the shop, I was never this grateful to breathe fresh air in my life. That was one heck of a very crowded crowd where people were just sandwiching each other.
My strawberry icecream was just too good, I would say my sufferings were totally worth it. I bought her some belgium chocolate cone, her favourite.
While enjoying my little cup of happiness, my eyes were scanning for her. Even after a minute of searching, there were no signs of her. My heart dropped, did she leave without telling me?
Okay, not possible. She won't just abandon me without informing. I paced around the street, maybe she's just taking a walk. I should give her a call.
While I was just minding my own damn business while scrolling throught the contacts, a woman rudely bashed past me and almost made me drop my icecream.
"Excuse me!?" I matched the rudeness. But, she didn't even glance back to apologise, hell, she just kept running. Then, something caught my eye in that split second. Her pale white face engulfed in terror, clutching her purse tightly as if it was her lifeline.
I turned to where the woman came from, and, unfortunately, it was from an alleyway. That's not a good sign. I should probably check it out and inform Jeremy, my cop friend, about this.
Giving my icecream an unconscious lick, I creeped towards the alley and peeped through. It was dark, with a light musty smell hitting my nose, and definitely with some people inside.
Narrowing my eyes, my gaze fell down to their legs, to count the number of people. There were a few boots, sneakers, and then strangely, one pair of black heels sticking out in the crowd.
Wait.
Didn't Hannah wear black heels today?
Shit, it was her.
What the hell do I do now?
I peeked in again, just analysing the situation. It's not ideal to take them all out with my fist, but, I can't wait for help to arrive when her little mumbled voice kept getting to me. I cared about her way more than I liked to acknowledge.
I stepped in the alleyway, honestly too tired to deal with this shit. I cleared my throat as loud as possible. Her eyes shone brightly as she saw me, two guys were holding her still, with another dude keeping her at a knife point.
"Okay, I don't have the energy, nor the patience for this." I sighed at my icecream melting on my palms. "Let her go. Or I will throw hands."
They all stared at me for a brief moment before they all turned to the guy who's holding the knife, whom, I assume is the leader of this joke pack of gangsta wannabes.
How the hell did she even get into this much trouble?
"What? Do you think you can take us all out? If you don't-" the guy started yapping.
"Stop." I said in the most uninterested way possible. "Let's skip the part where you threaten me, my answer is no. So, hand her over, and no one gets hurt." I forced myself to be calm even though I was fuming.
They all burst out laughing, Hannah looked dumbfounded. "Hey uhh, can I go now?" She tried nervously.
"What kind of dumb question is that?" The dude snarled, holding the knife closer to her neck which for the first time in a long time, made me feel really uneasy. "No."
She didn't seem scared though, just bored. I licked my runny icecream, my hands sticky as hell because of all the sugar. But, it was enough to calm me down by a margin again.
