Chapter 2 : Lesson
Selene's POV
And oh lord, surprising it was.
It was a horse carriage, a huge one parked on the side of the main street. I wondered how nobody was gawking at it.
The horses had wings. WINGS ‽
But somehow, I felt it in my bones that this wasn't the only surprise. I entered the carriage only to meet the horror-stricken eyes of my boyfriend in the rear-view mirror. He was the one driving the carriage. Wow.
The woman said, "Hey babe, I'm safely back with our chick, see? Aren't you proud of me? Let's go now."
My head was reeling. I wasn't really hung over, over the cheating thing, but gods, I hate liars. And lying and hiding are almost the same to me.
I didn't spare him another glance and that's when I noticed someone else was witnessing the show.
He was sitting right in the opposite row of seats, diagonal to me, and had me held in a scrutinizing but breathtaking gaze. Captivating, my mother would say. His eyes are the richest shade of brown that I have ever seen, it was my favourite colour before, and now it's even more. I never had such a fierce feeling about someone earlier.
I was popular in Richard High because of my whorish behaviour. I usually stayed out of relationship dramas because I have weird attachment issues and it was better to just fuck and watch Friends the rest of the time.
Until Rivan. And now see? Someone else calls him babe and he blushes to that. I didn't even reach the stage of calling him by sweet names because I thought he told me that he didn't like nicknames. I must have been the issue in that case, but I never realised.
A good enough lesson for me, really.
Moving on to the guy, man rather? I don't know, it had to be a sin to have such beautiful veins running down your arms. I almost lost myself to run my fingers over them but caught myself in time.
By now, he had looked away from me but his jaw was clenched and his hands were fisted. He seemed agitated. I wonder what caused the sudden change in his demeanor.
