‎ ‎ ‎ Your life flashed before your eyes. Your nerves pulsing quicker than normal. You squeezed your eyes shut expecting the harsh air of falling but, to your surprise, you didn't.
‎ ‎ ‎ In fact it felt like you were already on the ground. Your knees were touching the dirt, your hands resting on someone's chest, the whistling breeze had seemingly slowed down.
"That was a close call!" Denzel spoke up. Your eyes shot open when you realised he had saved you from falling off the edge. You pulled away quickly detaching the arms that were around you as heat started to rise from your face. "THANK YOU- Thank you, Denzel..." You let out a cough, "Let's get outa here before anyone else starts flying away." You got up in a hurry helping Denzel get up too in the process.

‎ ‎ ‎ You both successfully made it back to the car. Buckling your seatbelt, you glance back at the cliff one last time. The leaves danced slowly, the small yellow dots of the houses down in Dimmsdale, such a peaceful night for a near death experience. First you were enjoying the view the next, well. Everything happened so fast...

*VVRRRR*

‎ ‎ ‎ The engine snapped you out of your thoughts causing you to lightly jolt.
"Tired aren't we?" Denzel said chuckling to himself.
"Yeah... Thank you again though, from earlier." You replied almost in a whisper, resting your head on the car seat.
"Yeah yeah, don't mention it." He said in return before finally driving off to where we came from.
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ A few minutes in and still no sign of the cemented road, Denzel spoke hesitantly, "Y/n.. Did you mean what you said earlier?"

"About what?" You asked switching your focus from the window to him.

"About... You wishing my wishes came true?" His tone almost like in the verge of tears.
"What? Of course I do, you're my friend!" You reassured him, straightening your sitting position.

‎ ‎ ‎ "Right! Right- I'm your friend, sorry, stupid of me to ask. Of course you do." He replied in an instant, his lips forcing a smile. His grip on the wheel tightened as he stared off into the distant dark road.
"Hey, it's ok, man. I really meant it." You reassured once more only to be met with silence. Great, more awkward silences.
‎‎ ‎ ‎ Something was bothering him, and it bothered you the whole ride home. Your thoughts bounced around like ping pong saying,

should I ask him?

I just met him a day ago, It might be too personal.

But as a friend, I gotta at least try.

Or maybe he wants some time to think for himself.

Or maybe I said something wrong?

Did I do something wrong?

‎ ‎ ‎ Before you knew it, you already arrived back at Denzel's house. Exiting the vehicle, you heard a loud thump and the scattering of metal followed by Denzel yelling "Drat!". You quickly went over to him to help pick up the telescope pieces. But as you do so, his hand fell on top of yours. A chill went down your spine looking up to his dark ocean eyes. It glittered more than usual. His pupils dilated. The moonlight reflecting off of the lense of his glasses. Your brows furrowed trying to decipher why he looked so different tonight.
‎ ‎ ‎ "Is there something on my face?" He asked snapping you back to reality. "Huh-? oh, no no no. Sorry, my mind just wondered off." You replied half truthfully. After you both settled the telescope pieces back into Denzel's office, which was on top of the garage, you let out a satisfying sigh.
"I had alot of fun today, Denzel. This might be too much to ask but, do you wanna do this again sometime?" You smiled warmly. He stared at you, taking a moment to respond until he finally spoke "Y-yeah. Yeah! Absolutely! I can show you my plans, we can grab lunch together- I-I mean, if you're up to it of course." You couldn't help but giggle at his actions. "I'd like that." You replied watching his face heat up. " Welp, I'll see you around then." Waving him goodnight, you went down the stairs to your scooter. As you hopped on, you reached into your pocket. Phone, keys to the house, a penny I found on the floor... Wait...
You figured it must be in the other pocket, so you reached into it with your other hand... Nothing. You tried to recall where you could've lost it, but nothing made sense since it had always been in your pocket. You looked around the lawn, from your scooter to where Denzel fell on you, nothing. Your heart sank. You lost your scooter keys.
‎ ‎ ‎ It was starting to get late, and Denzel is probably tired after today, but you had no choice. You went back up to his office hopping he'd still be there, and he was. Sitting at his desk fixing the telescope. You knocked on his door lightly to get his attention and it made him jitter from the unexpected sound.
"Y/n? You're still here?" He questioned. "Yeahhhh I, uh, lost my keys." You admitted bashfully. "Could you, maybe, take me back home? Only if you want-" before you could finish, he was already getting up to grab his keys. "How did you even lost them?" He asked heading down to the unsuspecting van. "I don't know! It couldn't be in your van, it couldn't be at the cliff because all my other stuff is still in my pocket, and I already checked around the lawn. It's like it magically disappeared!" You exclaimed following him inside the vehicle.
"Magically disappeared you say? This might be the cause of... FAIRY GOD PARENTS!" He yelled ticking at each word. I gotta get used to him doing that, you thought. "But why would they do that? Why my keys?"
"Beats me. These creatures work in mysterious ways, who knows what they would do to your keys." He shrugged driving off to the Turner's house, leaving your scooter alone.
