AU T H O R'S  P O V

After lunch, they all returned to their classes. The maths teacher had already started, but Kiyana was still lost in her daydream, barely aware of the lesson going on. Her mind was stuck on what Shreyansh had said earlier. She replayed his words in her head over and over again, trying to make sense of them.

The numbers and formulas on the board blurred as she kept thinking about the way he looked at her when he spoke. Was he serious, or was it just another one of his casual remarks? She couldn't tell, and the uncertainty gnawed at her.

"Kiyana?" the teacher's voice cut through her thoughts, startling her.

"Uh, yes, ma'am?" she quickly straightened in her seat, trying to act like she'd been paying attention all along.

"Would you mind solving this problem on the board?"

Her heart sank as she glanced at the complicated equation, realizing she hadn't even opened her textbook.

"Sab teachers ko sirf mein hi dikhti hu kya!" She muttered.

(Do teachers only notice me!)

Kiyana sighed dramatically but went up to the board, trying to push all thoughts of Shreyansh out of her mind. As she stood there, she started solving the problem, her hand moving faster than her brain. To her surprise, everything just clicked, and in no time, she was done.

She stepped back, dusted her hands like a pro, and glanced around as if to say, "Yeah, that's how it's done."

The teacher blinked in surprise.
"Correct, Kiyana. Well done."

She strutted back to her seat, feeling all smug, when her Aarohi whispered, "Wow, you actually solved it! But madam Tu toh class sun bhi nahi rahi thi...How?"

Kiyana raised an eyebrow. "Of course, I did. Ab main hu hi itni smart, but koi maanta nahi... voh alag baat hai

(Of course, I did. Now, I am this smart, but no one believes it... And that's a different thing!)

Just as she sat down, the guy behind her muttered, "Or maybe you were just trying to impress Shreyansh."

Without missing a beat, Kiyana turned around, grinned, and said, "Nah, I just saved that brainpower for numbers. I'll deal with the real problem later."

The whole class burst out laughing as Kiyana gave a mock bow, feeling like she'd won both at math and life-for now.

The whole class was still buzzing from Kiyana's sassy comeback when the door creaked open ominously. In walked Mrs. Khurana, the principal. Instantly, the energy in the room changed. Conversations halted mid-sentence, and notebooks were straightened as if a giant wave of silence had crashed through the classroom.
